Fraud Alert: World Cup & Concert Ticket Scams

With summer concert season and the World Cup underway, please be cautious when buying tickets online. Scammers are actively targeting fans with fake websites and invalid tickets.

To protect yourself:

1. Only purchase from official, trusted sources (e.g., FIFA.com for World Cup tickets).

2. Be skeptical of prices well below market value.

3. Avoid peer-to-peer payment apps, wire transfers, or gift cards; use a credit card for better fraud protection.

4. Never buy tickets from strangers on social media or direct messages.

5. Double-check website URLs for slight misspellings or suspicious links.

Fanwood PD runs for the NJ Special Olympics along with our brothers and sisters from the Scotch Plains, Westfield, Union County, and Watchung police departments! The Torch Run raises money and spreads awareness for the amazing events and support the Special Olympics provides throughout New Jersey! Our officers received the Torch from Westfield PD on South Avenue and handed it off to Watchung PD at the TD Bank in Scotch Plains.

🔥🏃‍♂️ SPECIAL OLYMPICS TORCH RUN 🏃‍♀️🔥

This Friday, June 5th, officers from the Scotch Plains and Fanwood Police Departments will proudly participate in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, helping to carry the "Flame of Hope" through our communities.

The torch will travel through the downtown areas of both Scotch Plains and Fanwood between 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM.

We invite residents, businesses, family members, and friends to come out and cheer on our officers as they support this incredible cause and the amazing athletes of Special Olympics New Jersey.

Your support helps raise awareness and celebrate the spirit of inclusion, determination, and achievement that the Special Olympics represents.

Starting Monday, June 1, parking enforcement will resume in Lot 9 (the former Municipal Lot located behind the Martine Avenue and South Avenue businesses). To avoid a ticket, please check the lot regulations on this map.

The Southside Fanwood Train Station will be closed for the Training Wheel Toss on May 31 from 8:00am until 2:00pm. Vehicles must be moved out of the lot by 8:00am or they will be towed.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE - CANCELLED

Below is an important update from the SPF Memorial Day Committee on Memorial Day Ceremony & Parade:

The Memorial Day ceremonies will now be moved indoors:

9:00am - Fanwood Ceremony to be held indoors at the Fanwood Library.

10:00am - Scotch Plains Ceremony to be held in Council Chambers at the SP Municipal Building.

Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the Committee has made the very difficult decision to cancel the Parade.

We hope to see many at the indoor ceremonies to honor those who have served and made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms - as this year‘s theme is Freedom Is Not Free.

FANWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT TRAFFIC ADVISORY: MEMORIAL DAY PARADE ROAD CLOSURES

The Fanwood Police Department is advising residents and motorists of upcoming road closures for the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25th.

The main parade route will be closed to all traffic starting at 10:00 AM. We anticipate the route reopening at approximately 1:00 PM once the parade concludes. This includes Park Avenue from downtown Scotch Plains to the Fanwood border, the majority of Martine Avenue from Nettingham Middle School to Marian Avenue, and all streets that intersect.

Please be aware that both Fanwood and Scotch Plains are hosting individual Memorial Day ceremonies prior to the parade. Additional local road closures will be in effect surrounding these specific event locations earlier in the morning.

To avoid delays and navigate around the closures, drivers are advised to use alternate routes, including Terrill Road, Hetfield Avenue, and Route 22.
