Help make the Fanwood 5k Pizza Run and Family Fun Run a success!

The Fanwood 5k Pizza Run and Family Run are looking for volunteers to serve as road marshals along the race route.

Road Marshals help guide runners and ensure safety for our community - and, most importantly, cheer on our runners!

Volunteers will receive a free race t-shirt and free pizza after the event.

Volunteer on your own, or this is a wonderful opportunity for families or groups of friends to do together! Volunteers should be at least 16 years of age to participate, or they may participate alongside an adult.

On Monday 9/28/2026, Fanwood Fire Department responded to five calls for service, including two motor vehicle accidents and a gas leak.

One of the incidents brought crews to the 100 block of La Grande Ave for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment. Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and utilized hydraulic rescue tools to extricate one driver. Crews provided medical care and secured the scene, and one patient was transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The Fanwood Fire Department was honored to support the Tunnels to Towers Foundation runners as they ran in remembrance of 9/11. The group began their run in Washington, D.C. and made their way to Fabio‘s Bistro. From Fanwood, the running group continues to Ground Zero. The Remembrance Run is a 485 mile relay to remember and honor the lives that were lost.

On Friday 8/28/26 at 12:09am, the Fanwood Fire Department was dispatched to a residence on Terrill Road for the report of smoke in the structure. Upon arrival, units encountered heavy smoke showing from the residence, and the incident was upgraded to a structure fire.

Fanwood Engine 7, Engine 8, and Ladder 1 responded along with the Scotch Plains and Westfield Fire Departments. Firefighters stretched two attack lines and located a fire in the basement with minor extension to Division 1.

The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes. There were no reported injuries.
