If you’ve been interested in checking out our newly formed Writer’s Club, now is the time! The next meeting is on June 27th 10am. ✍🏻

Connect with your fellow local writers for a monthly writer’s workshop. Come with your ideas for a writing project, something you’re already working on, or start from scratch with our workshop writing exercises. Each month features a recommended reading to generate discussion and inspiration.

Sessions include: a discussion of the month’s short reading, a quick writing exercise, and the opportunity to share your work and offer feedback on fellow members’ work. This group is perfect for adults thinking about starting a writing project, or experienced writers who want a friendly sounding board.

June’s reading will be “Hills Like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway

Summer Reading and Summer Hours are arriving this weekend at the Fanwood Library! 😎

Please note that the library will now close at 1pm on Saturdays through September 5th. Regular Saturday hours will return on Saturday, September 12th.

📚 The Fanwood Memorial Library will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and Black history and culture.

Before the holiday, stop by and stock up on books, movies, and more to enjoy during the long weekend. We look forward to welcoming you back when we reopen in Saturday at 9:30am!

📣 NEW art on the Gallery Wall: Terrill Middle School Edition! 🎨

We’re so excited to showcase incredible artwork from Terrill Middle School students — created in art class and through their after-school Art Club!

Under the guidance of art teachers Chris Christopher and Julia Manhire, these young artists explore new techniques, mediums, and creative concepts every year. As the teachers put it: watching students grow as artists from 5th through 8th grade is one of the true joys of teaching — and this year’s work proves it, full of perseverance, creativity, skill, and love of learning. 💛

Today we say goodbye to the woman behind the curtain.💚📚

After more than a decade of dedicated service to the Fanwood Library, today is Meredith’s last day with us. While many of the things that keep the library running happen behind the scenes, Meredith’s impact has been felt way beyond the circulation desk - by staff, patrons, and our entire community.

We are incredibly grateful for her years of hard work, kindness, and commitment. Meredith, thank you for everything you’ve done to make our library the most welcoming and special place. Whether we were in a tiny cape style house, a historic train station, or our big, beautiful new library, you made everyday a joy to come to work.

If you stop by the library today, be sure to wish her well as she begins her next exciting chapter. 💫

Did you know June is Audiobook Month? That’s why it’s the perfect time to introduce Steps & Stories, Fanwood Library’s newest book club experience!

Join us for a relaxed walk where everyone listens to their own audiobook while enjoying fresh air and good company. Near the end of our walk, we’ll pause our stories and chat about exciting plot twists, memorable characters, and favorite listens.
