As Banned Books Week comes to an end, we’re celebrating Let Freedom Read Day—a reminder that everyone should have the freedom to choose what they read, explore new ideas, discover different perspectives, and find the stories that speak to them.

No one book is for everyone. And that’s exactly the point.

Here’s to keeping books available, conversations open, and the freedom to read alive. ❤️📖

And Tango Makes Three is a beloved children’s book about two penguin dads who become a family—with a little help from some very special zookeepers.

It’s also one of the most frequently challenged children’s books in the country.

We think every child deserves the chance to discover stories that help them read, wonder, and see the world from a different perspective.

So this Banned Books Week, we’re saying it loud: Let Books Be. 📖✨

📚 Banned Books Week is October 4–10 📚

Books have the power to help us discover new ideas, see the world through someone else’s eyes, and spark our imaginations.

This year’s Banned Books Week theme, “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read,” is a wonderful reminder of why access to books matters to every member of our community.

The Fanwood Memorial Library is proud to be a designated Book Sanctuary, and we believe everyone should have the freedom to explore books and ideas.

As book challenges and attempts to restrict access to library materials continue across the country, we’re reminded that protecting the freedom to read is something we all have a role in. We celebrate the joy and creativity that books bring to our lives—and we’ll continue working to make sure there’s a place for everyone at the library. ❤️📖

💗 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗

Today, our library team is wearing pink and coming together to show our support for everyone whose lives have been touched by breast cancer.

From wearing pink to sharing books and resources, we’re proud to stand with our community in raising awareness, honoring survivors, remembering those we’ve lost, and supporting those currently facing breast cancer.

📚💗 Stop by the library to check out our book displays and pick up a pink ribbon to wear to help spread awareness throughout our community.

Together, we can share a little extra awareness, compassion, kindness and hope this October. 💕🎀
