We agree, there shouldn't be any unanswered questions for a project of this size.
If we're going to do this, we need to get this right.
As a City Commissioner, my priority is simple: protect taxpayers while planning for smart, responsible growth.
That means making sure this project is fiscally responsible from day one. We need a clear, honest financial plan that doesn’t leave residents on the hook if projections fall short.
It also means choosing the right location. A convention center should enhance what we already have, support surrounding businesses, and be accessible for both residents and visitors.
And if we’re going to do this, it needs to be done well. That includes the right amenities to attract events and make Fargo competitive regionally without overbuilding or overspending.
I support economic development, but not at any cost. We owe it to the people of Fargo to ask tough questions, demand transparency, and make sure this project stands on its own.
For me, it comes down to:
1. Do we need this? Is it a true financial benefit?
2. Where is the best, most beneficial location?
3. Who's paying for it?
4. Do those who will benefit financially from it have enough skin in the game?
5. What happens if it's not profitable?
I’ll continue pushing for accountability every step of the way.
