๐ŸŒˆ Happy Pride Month! ๐ŸŒˆ

At PPiH, we believe everyone deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and valued for who they are. We honor diversity, authenticity, and strength that make our communities better every day. Pride is a time to recognize progress, reflect on the work still to be done, and reaffirm our commitment to inclusion and equality.

๐Ÿ“ฃ News release: In partnership with the FMWF Chamber of Commerce, the City of Fargo and Fargo Cass Public Health will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Resource and Recovery Center on Thursday, May 28, at 2 p.m. The event will take place at 2001 1st Ave. N., Fargo. During the ceremony, attendees will hear from:

โ€ข Fargo Mayor Dr. Tim Mahoney
โ€ข Jan Eliassen, Director of Harm Reduction Programs for Fargo Cass Public Health
โ€ข Lenore King, Presentation Partners in Housing
โ€ข Jasmine Vasichek, Southeast Behavioral Health Clinic
โ€ข Kim Seeb, Family HealthCare

Tours of the Resource and Recovery Center will be available immediately following the ribbon-cutting ceremony and will be facilitated by members of the Fargo Cass Public Health Harm Reduction Division, along with guests currently receiving services. Light refreshments will also be served.

Jan Eliassen, Director of Harm Reduction Programs for , stated, โ€œThe new space will provide room for more on-site partners, collaboration and programming, and its design will allow staff to work more efficiently.โ€ The Resource & Recovery Center will offer services for individuals experiencing homelessness that were previously delivered at the Downtown Engagement Center. The new space at the Resource and Recovery Center will create faster pathways to housing, treatment and achieving clientsโ€™ personal goals while also filling critical gaps and expanding services, such as mental health, health care and housing navigation.

By bringing state, county, city, and nonprofit organizations together under one roof, the Resource and Recovery Center will strengthen collaboration and improve outcomes. Locating services on one floor, paired with improved management of outside activity, will also enhance accessibility and safety. The space will also address a long-standing infrastructure gap by providing emergency flex space that supports the broader community.

The new facility will:
โ€ข Provide adequate space for on-site partners, expanding access to health care, housing navigation and behavioral health resources.
โ€ข Support coordinated efforts between a multitude of partner organizations, leading to faster, more sustainable outcomes for those served.
โ€ข Enhance safety and visibility through a single-level layout designed for effective management of outdoor and indoor activity.

Please note that members of the Fargo City Commission, Fargo Cass Board of Health, West Fargo City Commission, and Cass County Commission have been invited to this event. A quorum for these entities may be present.

Last week we had some incredible help from six amazing volunteers through United Way of Cass-Clay's Day of Action and we are so grateful! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Paige, McKenna, Candace, and Rosalee from Widmer Roel, and Pat and Chris from Alerus showed up ready to work - supplies in hand and plenty of grit! These incredible volunteers helped us tackle some much-needed spring cleanup and repairs around our building. ๐Ÿ”จ๐Ÿ–Œ

This kind of community support means the world to us. It's a reminder that we don't do this work alone. Thank you all for giving your time and energy to help keep our space running strong!
A huge thank you to United Way of Cass-Clay for organizing the Day of Action and connecting us with such a wonderful group of volunteers. ๐Ÿ’™

We are SO proud of our Housing Navigation Program Director, Beth, who presented this morning at the Housing First Partners Conference in San Francisco! ๐ŸŽ‰

Beth led a workshop titled "Housing First Saves Lives and Money: Reaffirming through Community-driven Data." If you know Beth, you know she brought every bit of her 15 years in homeless services, her passion for data, and her fierce belief that housing is a human right to that room.

Watching Beth go from learner to presenter, we are beyond inspired! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Thank you, Beth, for representing our community, for doing the work, and for showing the field what's possible when data and humanity walk hand in hand. ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ“ฃ Prevention Matters! Prevention Works! ๐Ÿ“ฃ
Courtney, Prevention and Diversion Case Manager shared what partnership ๐Ÿค advocacy, and financial assistance means to prevent an eviction.

Courtney began working with a household who was facing eviction, job loss, and mounting overdue bills. With two children at home and limited income after losing work due to car insurance issues, this single parent was doing everything they could to avoid another eviction filing.

Prevention Support helped this household catch up on rent and utilities while building a plan for long-term stability ๐Ÿก.

Along the way, the household was able to take important steps forward: reinstating their driverโ€™s license, securing car insurance, and returning to work ๐Ÿ’ผ. Despite the challenges, the household stayed engaged, communicated consistently, and remained focused on goals.

Today, a full-time, higher-paying position was secured, they feel confident in maintaining housing, and is preparing to take over rent independently ๐Ÿ™Œ

Being a part of this families journey is a powerful reminder of what resilience looks likeโ€”and how the right support at the right time can help families move from crisis to stability ๐Ÿ’™

Beth, our Housing Navigation Program Director, was honored to connect with advocates from the City of Fargoโ€™s Harm Reduction Division at Fargo Cass Public Health. She was joined by Sydni, Data Specialist, to lead a training on housing-focused programming. ๐Ÿก

We had inspiring conversations with passionate, thoughtful professionals behind impactful programs like the Gladys Ray Shelter, Downtown Engagement Center, Mobile Outreach Program, and more. ๐Ÿ‘

PPIH is deeply grateful for these lifesaving, empowering programs we have the privilege to collaborate with. Thank you for sharing your insight, expertise, and willingness to learn as we continue working together to make homelessness rare, brief, and one-time. ๐Ÿ’ฅ
