Motor vehicle crashes remain one of the leading causes of death for teens, making additional safety education an important part of helping new drivers build safe habits.

Here's a way to supplement safe driving education for your teen: Impact Teen Drivers, in collaboration with Kids and Car Safety, has developed a free online teen driving safety course designed to help teens recognize and prevent common vehicle-related hazards. The course includes four interactive modules covering:

โžก Blind zone awareness
โžก The dangers of moving vehicles
โžก Hot car hazards
โžก Vehicle submersion safety

These short, engaging lessons use real-world scenarios to teach life-saving safety skills for teens and families.

Better late than never!

Here are some photos of our crews from the Fargo Marathon this weekend! A huge congratulations to all of the runners who crossed the finish line, from first-time participants to seasoned marathoners.

We'd also like to recognize the countless volunteers, organizers, public safety personnel, medical teams, and behind-the-scenes staff who helped make the event a success. It takes an incredible team effort to put on an event of this size, and we're proud to be a part of it.

Great job, everyone, and thanks for making it a fantastic weekend in our community!

Sanford Ambulance was highlighted TWICE in the 2025 CARES Annual Report!

โžก Check out the report here: https://mycares.net/sitepages/uploads/2026/2025_flipbook/index.html?page=1

Sanford Ambulance has been participating in the CARES registry since 2014. CARES is a national database that helps communities measure performance and identify how to improve cardiac arrest survival rates.

The CARES registry allows us to compare ourselves to other cities and states. Prior to CARES, there were several different metrics that states used to report their cardiac arrest data. CARES levels the field and allows each state to see how they are doing compared to the rest of the nation.

It's HOT out today!! โ˜€

Here are some tips on how to stay hydrated and cool on days like today!

โžก Limit exposure to sun - if you have to work outdoors, take breaks and take them often
โžก Stay hydrated - dehydration can occur quickly during humid conditions
โžก Keep a close eye on vulnerable populations and those with medical conditions. Older adults and kids aren't able to control body temperature as well as others.
โžก Never leave kids unattended in vehicles. Temperatures in vehicles can soar quickly!
โžก Be aware of the signs & symptoms of heat-related illnesses and treat them quickly! When in doubt, call 911.

Weโ€™re proud to share that Sanford Trauma and Sanford Ambulance were recognized at the 2026 Vision Zero ND Conference with the Vision Zero EMS Award! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿš‘

Dr. Rebekah Devasahayam and Sanford Ambulance Paramedic Kathy Lonski were able to attend the conference to accept the award on behalf of Sanford Trauma and Sanford Ambulance. Both the Trauma and Ambulance teams have shown exceptional commitment to keeping North Dakota safe through public education opportunities, teaching efforts, and road safety initiatives throughout our region. Along with several others, Dr. Devasahayam and Kathy played a key role in bringing whole blood to Sanford Ambulance - a major advancement in prehospital emergency care for our patients. Their leadership, collaboration, and dedication helped make this life-saving program a reality, allowing critically injured patients to receive blood transfusions earlier, before arriving at the hospital.

This program has significantly elevated the level of care Sanford Ambulance is able to provide in the field and continues to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes across the communities we serve.

We are incredibly grateful for our partners at Sanford Trauma; their passion, innovation, and commitment to improving emergency care in North Dakota is unmatched. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition! (L: Gretta Miller, Sanford Health Child Passenger Safety Technician Award recipient, Kathy Lonski, and Dr. Rebekah Devasahayam).

In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities. The theme for EMS Week 2026 is "Improving Outcomes, Together".

Every EMS clinician carries one call with them forever, not for its heroism but for its humanity. A child whose breathing finally stabilized, a grandmother whose hand was held until her family reached her side, or a stranger who, despite fear and pain in their eyes, chose to trust them.

These moments seldom make headlines, yet they influence outcomes and change lives. These outcomes go beyond just vital signs. They include people returning home, families remaining united and communities feeling safer because someone was there when it mattered most.

Todayโ€™s EMS clinicians bring advanced skills and innovative tools to these moments: evolving models of care that serve patients in big cities, tribal lands, rural plains and everywhere in between - skills such as early stroke recognition, advanced medication delivery, and whole blood transfusion. These advancements are creating a measurable difference well before the patient reaches the hospital.

This week, we recognize the people behind the patch and reaffirm our commitment, as partners and communities, to Improving Outcomes, Together.
