Congratulations to the Faribault Police Department/Faribault Fire Department, which took its first First Responders for Charity Softball Tournament title, first beating the Rice County team, then the team from Minnesota Correctional Facility-Faribault. The event, a fundraiser for HOPE Center, brought in more than $1,500, bring the total raised over four years to $12,000.

Congratulations to the Rice County Treatment Court softball team on their win over the Steele-Waseca Team last night by a score of 16-11.

In this, the fourth year of the charity tournament benefitting HOPE Center, treatment courts participants took the field, playing just before the marquee event in which first responders from Rice County, Faribault and Northfield and the Department of Corrections squared off.

Rice County Property Tax & Elections Director Denise Anderson, pictured with Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon, is one of 10 Minnesotans who recently received the Secretary of State’s Excellence in Election award. The award recognizes individual election workers and teams for their outstanding service to the state.

Congratulations to University of Minnesota Extension - Rice & Steele Counties for another successful Passport to Agriculture event. Hundreds of area residents were at the fairgrounds Thursday, learning about crops, livestock and ag products produced locally.
