Join us and Southeastern Minnesota Area Agency on Aging, Inc., Lifting Voices, MN Department of Human Services, Three Rivers Community Action, Inc., The Alzheimer's Association, Rice County Public Heath and Family Services Rochester tomorrow at 1pm to hear a presentation by Dr Gaugler from the University of Minnesota on Alzheimers Disease.

All of the above resources will be available to all participants.

Approximately 94,000 Minnesotans live with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia, and a quarter million people provide unpaid care to these individuals. The value of this care to Minnesota and society is over $3.5 billion dollars per year, which exceeds the annual revenue of some Fortune 500 companies.

In a tour across the state of Minnesota, Professor Gaugler hopes to meet with families and professionals to talk about Alzheimer's disease, share information and stories, and help us realize we are not alone on the dementia journey.

Dr. Gaugler is the Robert L. Kane Endowed Chair in Long-Term Care and Aging at the University of Minnesota, School of Public Health. His research interests are in Alzheimer's disease, long-term care, and finding innovative ways to support families who care for relatives with memory loss.

The statewide tour is sponsored by the Minnesota Northstar Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program with funding through the Health Resources Services Administration. Outreach conferences are delivered via the Dementia Educationa Experience Roadshow (DEER).

Congratulations to Cheri Albers and our very own Buckham West Senior Center Board President, John Slettedahl, on being honored as Outstanding Seniors of the Year at the Rice County Fair last Thursday!

This recognition celebrates their dedication, leadership and countless contributions to our community. We are especially proud to have John serving as our Board President, and we know firsthand the passion and commitment he brings to Buckham West.

Yesterday we held the First Annual Fashions on Central Faribault Style Show!
The spectators and catwalk queens made this event so much fun! Thank you to everyone who cheered, strutted, laughed and helped make it such a memorable day!

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the veterans in our Buckham West community. Your service, dedication, and commitment have helped shape the freedoms we enjoy every day. We are honored to know you and grateful to celebrate you, not only today but every day.
