MSMPA is an organization comprised of county Sheriff's Mounted Posse units throughout the state of MN What do we do?

The Minnesota Sheriff's Mounted Posse Association is comprised of individuals representing mounted posse's across Minnesota. They routinely take part in assisting the Sheriff's office in whatever way possible. This may include patrol duties at local events, search and rescue assistance, public relations, appearances at parades, and other projects where the presence of mounted officers is beneficial. The MSMPA promotes a high level of civic responsibility by offering scholarships to the youth of our membership and graduates of the Sheriffs Youth Programs. Units of the MSMPA hold countless fundraisers for youth, scholarships and area charities. For more than four decades, Chet has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his Sheriff’s Posse, his fellow members, and the community he proudly serves.

Forty-one years of volunteering, dedication, friendship, and service is an extraordinary accomplishment! Members like Chet represent the very heart of our mounted posse organizations and remind us of the lasting impact that dedicated volunteers have on their communities.

🐴🚨 CALL FOR ASSISTANCE — MISSING HORSE SAFELY LOCATED

Sunday evening was an unexpected reminder of what it means to be ready to serve when the call comes.

At approximately 7:45 PM, Sheriff Jay Dulas contacted the Waseca County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse requesting assistance with locating a missing horse in Courthouse Park.

The call immediately went out to our members — and they responded.

Within a short period of time, 15 Posse members, along with 4 Posse horses, arrived to assist with the search. By approximately 9:00 PM, teams were organized and headed into Courthouse Park, searching through the woods in complete darkness.

And thankfully, it didn’t take long.

🐴 At approximately 9:15 PM, the missing horse was located deep in the woods.

Members were able to safely bring the horse out of the park and reunite him with his owners. Even better, the horse was found safe and without any apparent wounds or injuries. ❤️

We cannot thank our members enough for their response. On a Sunday evening, 15 volunteers dropped what they were doing, gathered their equipment, loaded horses when needed, and answered the call to help.

There was no advance notice. No scheduled shift. Just a call asking, “Who can help?”

And our members showed up.

This is one of the many ways the Waseca County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse serves alongside the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office and our community. Whether the individual needing to be found has two legs or four, our members are proud to answer the call when our assistance is needed.

A successful search, a safe reunion, and a very good ending to a Sunday night. 💛🐴

🖤 REMEMBERING SHERIFF DONALD D. EUSTICE — 50 YEARS LATER 🖤

Today, September 4, 2026, marks 50 years since a tragedy that forever changed Waseca County.

On September 4, 1976, Waseca County Sheriff Donald “Don” Eustice was fatally shot in the line of duty. Today, we remember not only the tragedy of that day, but the Sheriff, leader, public servant, and friend our community lost.

Sheriff Eustice’s legacy remains deeply woven into Waseca County. In 1969, he founded the Waseca County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse, bringing together volunteers who were willing to give their time, horses, and talents in service to the Sheriff’s Office and their community.

More than five decades later, we are incredibly proud to continue the organization he began. Every search, patrol, community event, parade, training, and call to serve carries forward a small piece of the vision Sheriff Eustice had so many years ago.

The photographs shared with this post are from Sheriff Eustice’s funeral—a solemn reminder of the tremendous loss felt throughout Waseca County and beyond.

Today at 12:00 PM, the Waseca County Sheriff’s Office will hold a short memorial ceremony at the memorial in front of the Sheriff’s Office, 122 NW 3rd Avenue in Waseca, honoring Sheriff Eustice and his legacy.

We invite our community to join us as we pause to remember a Sheriff whose service and sacrifice have not been forgotten.

🐴⭐ CROW WING COUNTY MOUNTED SHERIFF’S POSSE — OUT IN THE COMMUNITY! ⭐🐴

What a great night in Crosby! The Crow Wing County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse was proud to represent the Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol at Night to Unite at Crosby Memorial Park! 🚔🐎

Events like Night to Unite are about so much more than gathering together—they’re about building relationships, strengthening community connections, and giving residents an opportunity to get to know the people who serve their communities. And, of course, the horses always have a way of bringing people together! ❤️

The evening brought out an incredible crowd, plenty of familiar faces, and LOTS of new friends. 😆 There’s something special about seeing families, neighbors, law enforcement, first responders, and community organizations all come together for a night of fun and fellowship.

👏 Great job to the Crow Wing County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse for getting out into the community and representing Minnesota’s Mounted Sheriff’s Posse units so well!
