Third Library Discovery Meeting open to the public at City Hall at 6 p.m. tonight

FBTX ~ Designed to answer questions and offer an opportunity for input on possible improvements to the Manske Library, in-person Discovery Meetings continue Thursday, while a new survey to gauge public input is also active.

All set for Farmers Branch City Hall, members of City staff and the Library Board will be available for Discovery Meetings on:

· Thursday, August 20, 6 to 7 p.m.
· Wednesday, August 26, 6 to 7 p.m.

COVID social distancing protocols will apply and face coverings are required.

In addition, a community-wide survey has been designed to further the discussion and solicit public input on renovation plans. Find the survey online or by using the attached QR code.

Conceptual renderings of what a renovated Manske Library could look like are available now on the City’s website and in the lobby at City Hall. While these represent an idea in time about how renovation could look, community input will drive any final design decisions.

Welcome to the Most Dynamic City in DFW

Yes, that IS a hefty statement, but Farmers Branch can back it up.

From the charming perspective of time at our Historical Park to the corporate corridors of Fortune 500 companies in our east and west side commercial districts, Farmers Branch is a 21st century is a community steeped in Texas heritage, but with one eye firmly fixed on the future.

And, while our business community provides the lifeblood of Farmers Branch, our neighborhoods in our residential core provide the heartbeat. Farmers Branch consists of many neighbors that have lived here for generations and other families that are just now discovering the awesomeness of living in “the Branch.” Our residents are treated to a historically low tax rate, world class services, amenities and facilities and special events where the community comes together in celebration throughout the year.

Residents can also choose from an increasingly diverse selection of housing options. From apartments and townhomes to brand new single-family rooftops and mature neighborhoods, Farmers Branch has it all. In fact, we offer attractive tax and cash incentives for residents to remove an older house and replace it with a newer one.

The way farmers branch code enforcement conducts themselves in the summons meetings is embarrassing. The man that conducts them was talking badly about people who had already left and paid their fines. Shows the character of the people “enforcing” farmers branch. I wish I got his name so I could address him publicly for his indecent behavior while he’s at work. He is a slim guy w dark hair & glasses. I guess he’s the one who’s always there. Not to mention the 300$ ticket I got for firewood in my backyard.... which Brookhaven college has piles of firewood on their campus. What exactly is allowed in a backyard in farmers branch? Don’t get me started on trash violation cases I heard bc the rules are NOT to help those in farmers branch, they are ticket traps!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP, FARMERS BRANCH. REWARD IF FOUND
Our city rocks! We’re at Josey and Rawhide and lost a large branch on one tree, which landed on the stop sign and fire hydrant. It also blocked Rawhide. My 63 year old husband, who works at a desk all day, managed to use a very small saw to get the branch’s cut so he could unblocked the road, but couldn’t do much more. This morning I woke to the sound of chain saws and a big crew cut down the limb just before the Green Grabber came and picked everything. I called the streets department and left a thank you voice mail, but I want everyone to know the city is really rocking this storm.

I cannot attend the next meeting, but would like to see the following questions addressed: 1) Farmers Branch Lane Creek: Is the city providing repairs to private property along the creek? If so: At what cost? Would public funding for private property improvement mean that the public would have access rights to that improvement? In other words, if we're paying for it, can we use it? 2) Library repairs: Please provide an itemized breakdown of all the repairs being sought and their costs. Also, describe the bidding process for this work and what bids have been submitted. 3) Red light cameras: What is your plan and timeline to disable and dismantle these devices now that the state has legislated a ban on them? If we are under contract with a 3rd party, what are the terms of the contract, and can you post the contract publicly? Thank you
