Yesterday, the Rocky Branch/Crossroads Fire District hosted its first ‘Day One’ Training program for community members interested in learning more about the operations of RBCFD.
The goal of Day One Training was to provide participants with exposure to many different aspects of the fire and EMS service in a single day. Throughout the day, participants learned about department operations, the apparatus and equipment specific to RBCFD, radio communications, safety principles, personal protective equipment, the basics of fireground operations and vehicle rescues, EMS response, privacy and integrity, incident documentation, and the teamwork that makes it all possible.
Participants didn't just sit through presentations. They received hands-on exposure to equipment, tools, techniques, and procedures used by our department. They pulled hose, flowed water, handled rescue equipment, explored emergency vehicles, learned basic EMS concepts, and gained a better understanding of what it takes to serve with RBCFD.
One thing we are especially proud of is that every training block was taught by our own personnel. From firefighters and EMS responders to department officers, the instruction was delivered by the men and women who serve this community every day. Their knowledge, experience, and willingness to share what they have learned helped make this event a success.
This event was developed following a recruiting campaign conducted by RBCFD over the past several weeks. Day One Training provided an opportunity for interested individuals to experience the department firsthand and learn more about serving their community. We were extremely encouraged by the response from the community, the interest shown in the program, and the enthusiasm and engagement displayed throughout the day.
Most importantly, we want to thank those who attended. Giving up an entire Saturday to learn, train, and explore ways to serve others speaks volumes about your character and demonstrates that there are still people willing to step forward and serve their neighbors when called upon. Your willingness to consider serving your community is something we deeply appreciate.
Several participants committed to joining RBCFD, making the day a success and helping strengthen the future of our department.
A special thank you goes to the RBCFD Support Team for providing lunch and helping support the event. Their efforts behind the scenes are a vital part of what makes our department successful.
Enjoy a few photos from the day!
