Tonight, the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office Reserve Division has 10 additional deputies out serving our community. These deputies are paired up in 5 units and will be patrolling throughout the parish tonight.

Our Reserve Deputies volunteer their time to help provide extra visibility, assist full-time deputies, and support public safety across Union Parish.

We appreciate their continued dedication and service to our community.

UPSO is seeking the whereabouts of Tyreon Terrell Traylor, B/M, DOB: 6-28-2007. Traylor is described as 5’10” tall, and 224 lbs. He is known to frequent the Farmerville and Bernice areas.

Traylor has outstanding felony warrants for Attempted First Degree Murder, Assault by Drive-by Shooting (10 cts.), Illegal Use of Weapons, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, Patterns of Criminal Street Gangs.

Traylor is considered armed and dangerous.

Effective 6-02-26:
Credit/debit payment option will be suspended at 4:00 pm, CST. After this time, the only method of payment accepted will be cash, money orders, or cashier's check.

FOUR ARRESTED AFTER GANG RELATED DRIVE-BY SHOOTING IN BERNICE

The Union Parish Sheriff's Office has made four arrests in connection with a gang related drive-by shooting that occurred in April 2026 inside the city limits of Bernice. The incident involved multiple individuals firing weapons in a residential area, resulting in bodily injury and property damage. One person was struck by gunfire multiple times and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

As the investigation progressed, UPSO investigators identified multiple individuals involved in the incident. Investigators determined the shooting was related to criminal street gang activity and identified four suspects. Investigators also determined that numerous individuals were endangered during the incident, including several people inside a residence and others who were outside in the area at the time of the shooting, including children.

As a result of the investigation, arrest warrants were obtained for all four individuals. All individuals have since been arrested and booked into the Union Parish Detention Center. Those arrested are:

Broderick Eugene Nute III, 18, of Ruston
Attempted First Degree Murder
Assault by Drive-by Shooting (10 counts)
Illegal Use of Weapons
Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
Criminal Street Gangs and Patterns of Criminal Street Gangs
Nute's bond is $775,000

Antonio Montez Traylor, 18, of Marion
Attempted First Degree Murder
Assault by Drive-by Shooting (10 counts)
Illegal Use of Weapons
Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
Criminal Street Gangs and Patterns of Criminal Street Gangs

In the May 7, 2026, editions of the Banner News and The Gazette, the Union Parish Sheriff & ExOfficio Tax Collector delinquent tax listing was sent to publishing with erroneous information. Our software company submitted the incorrect file, which led to multiple properties shown delinquent in error. We sincerely apologize to the taxpayers for the inaccuracy and any confusion this may have caused. Accuracy is important to us, and we are taking steps to ensure such errors do not occur in the future.
