A few L2659 memebers were fortunate to attend Great Lakes H.O.T over the weekend for some great training. Members attended two days of conference focusing on leadership training, followed by two days of RIT, engine company operations and vehicle extrication, respectively. Be sure to check them out and consider attending next years conference. Special thank you to Philly Tin Helmet Training, LLC and all of the instructors.

Thank you to the fine folks at Crossfit 8 Mile for once again opening their doors for a few of our members and their families to complete the The Murph Challenge on Saturday. This is fifth consecutive year that CrossFit 8 Mile has opened their space to our members outside of normal hours to complete this memorial workout. We hope you all have a fun and safe holiday weekend!

13 years later, Brian Woehlke is still talked about often, still remembered, and still missed by a lot of people.

Every year, these posts can start to feel familiar, but the support never does. We’re grateful for everyone who continues to take a moment to remember Brian with us, tell stories, and help make sure his name is never forgotten.

Today, take a minute to reach out to somebody you care about, tell a story about someone we’ve lost, or simply take a second to appreciate the people still standing beside you. That’s how we keep memories like Brian's alive.

A few L2659 members participated in this years Fight For Air Climb alongside countless other area departments this afternoon at Ford Field. The event raises money each year for the American Lung Association!

Yesterday L2659 responded to the incident at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. Units from Stations 1, 2, 4 and 5 provided assistance with EMS, fire suppression and delivering various other resources to the scene. Members also arrived off duty assembled a full cadre of apparatus and personnel to be on standby as the incident evolved.

Yesterday’s incident in serves as a difficult reminder of the challenges our first responders face every day.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragic act of violence. We also stand proudly with our mutual aid partners and countless law enforcement agencies who responded with professionalism, courage, and compassion under incredibly difficult circumstances.

Please continue to look out for one another. In moments like these, unity and support matter more than ever.
