Thank you to Farmington Puppet Wagon, Barron of Bubbles, Vicki with Balloons, and all the residents who came by Empire Summer Entertainment tonight! It was a blast and hope to see you at our Annual Empire Celebration on Thursday, August 6th where there will be lots of great activities- including bouncy houses, free food, Dakota County Sheriff, Farmington Fire Dept, face painting and much more!

Three representatives from Hiawatha Broadband Communications (HBC) will be soliciting door to door in Empire over the next couple of weeks.

They are permitted by the City and may solicit between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, per City Ordinance. The representatives will be traveling in a Tesla and a Hyundai Sonata.

⚠️ PLAYGROUND SAFETY NOTICE ⚠️

The City has received several reports of fishing line being strung across the playground equipment at Sach’s Park. We are aware of the issue and are working with the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office to increase patrols in the area. Signage will also be posted at the playground entrance to remind visitors to use caution.

If you see fishing line strung across the playground equipment, do not touch or cut it down, and do not use the equipment. Please call 911 immediately. This will allow law enforcement to respond, photograph the scene, and properly document the incident.

If you observe suspicious activity near the playground, please call 911 to report it.

Thank you to everyone who has reported this issue and helped bring it to our attention.

UPDATE: The roadway is now open.

ROAD CLOSURE: Southbound Highway 47 is closed at 265th Street near Northfield Boulevard due to a rolled-over semi carrying approximately 800 turkeys.

The roadway is expected to remain closed for several hours. Please use an alternate route.

The City of Empire has an ordinance requiring people conducting door to door sales to be registered with the City. As of now, the City does not have anyone registered to conduct door to door sales.
We have received concerns from residents about various door to door sales people going around town recently. If someone comes to your door trying to sell you something (think business, not charity organization) please ask them if they are permitted by the City. If they are not, feel free to call the Dakota County Sheriff's Department to report them. Feel free to call City Hall to ask if they are permitted. If the City does have a permitted sales person or people, we will post that information on this page.
