A little update on Cookie, now known as Poppy, from her forever family ❤🐾🍪

“We absolutely love Cookie! We renamed her Poppy. We often call her our little lemon poppy seed cookie! Of course the first few days were rough! She was stressed and so was our other dog, but we were persistent with creating a calm environment and got her potty trained in two weeks! I did have to lean on some AI doggy training tricks to get us through her not settling at night. She'd have her little toddler tantrums and zoomies in the evenings of course! To be expected of 1.5 year old girly! But she's great!

Now poppy enjoys time on our 5 acres in or out as much as she wants! She loves to cuddle, chew on her toys, and we have officially got her swimming in our little stretch of the animas river! She loves it! She's been on a few big hikes with us now as well! She's a lucky girl! We love her!”

BLIZZARD IS TURNING 1!

Blizzard is celebrating his 1st birthday this weekend, and we can’t think of a better birthday gift than finding him a FOREVER FAMILY!

This sweet boy has been patiently waiting for his person since May, stealing the hearts of everyone he meets along the way. Blizzard is VERY sweet and affectionate and loves nothing more than curling up in your lap. Never mind that he’s long, lanky, and doesn’t exactly fit—he’ll make it work!

A little about the birthday boy:
• Loves other dogs and would thrive with a playful canine buddy
• Loves people—big and small!
• Potty trained AND crate trained
• Cat safe, although his playful energy may be a little much for some cats
• Treat motivated and takes direction well
• Working hard on his leash manners
• Loves zoomies, fetch, hikes, adventures, cuddles, and PLAYING!

Blizzard is a pittie/hound mix who’s still a little on the skinny side and could stand to gain a few pounds. But what he lacks in weight, he more than makes up for in love, personality, and enthusiasm for life! ❤️

🎁 Blizzard already received an early birthday present this week—he’s spending a few days in a foster home and getting a much-deserved break from shelter life. But the gift we REALLY want for him is a home to call his own.

Help us make Blizzard’s first birthday one to remember and the beginning of a lifetime of happy birthdays with his very own family! 🎂🐾

In return, Blizzard promises unlimited love, loyalty, cuddles, zoomies, and plenty of adventures. 💙

🎉 Happy 1st Birthday, Blizzard! Now let’s get this birthday boy ADOPTED! 🎉

Missing your pet? 🐾

Don’t forget to check your local shelter if your furry friends go missing! We’ve had a lot of dogs and cats brought in recently, looking for their people.

Visit our lost and found pets page to view our recent strays at the link below, or come see us for a walk through the shelter.

You can also fill out a lost pet form so that we can be on the lookout for your pet, getting in contact as soon as possible if we receive your pet.

Meet Opal 🤍

This sweet girl has been waiting for almost 200 days for her person, constantly being overlooked. Opal loves to go for walks, be outside, and be near her people.

She is incredibly treat-motivated and she knows how to sit, meaning she’s willing to learn more (treats provided of course). Opal also enjoys a good tree branch that she can chew on, and will even play fetch with it.

Come meet Opal, you won’t regret it 🐾🤍

Don’t forget about our Doggie Day Out program! 😎☀

Doggie Day Out is a chance for dogs to leave the shelter for a day and spend some one-on-one time with new friends! You can take them on a hike, hang out at home and relax, take them for pup cups and so much more!

Some benefits to Doggie Day Out: dogs get some time away from the shelter to unwind and show their personality, it helps them socialize with new people to hopefully bring them out of their shells, and it also provides valuable insight into their behavior away from the shelter.

If you are interested in participating, you can apply at the link below!

Use the hashtags or if you post your day on socials!

Meet Sweet Tator 🥔

At a little over 3 years old, Sweet Tator is a gentle, kind-hearted girl who enjoys taking walks and has a playful side (especially when it comes to chasing lizards). She has a calm, sweet personality and would love a family that will give her the love she's always deserved.

Sweet Tator can be a little shy around men at first and may need a bit of time to warm up. With patience, kindness, and consistency, she builds trust and becomes a loyal companion. She does do well with other dogs 🧡

We are still at capacity in dogs 💔

With over 150 dogs in our care, 70 of which are available for adoption, we don’t have room to take in anyone else. We need your help.

If you are missing a pet, please make sure to check your local shelters to help empty kennels for us to keep saving lives- one adoption or foster home at a time.

Unable to adopt or foster at this time? Instead please share this post with anyone who can. Remember, when you adopt or foster one, you’re saving two lives. ❤
