Farmington Public Schools

Farmington Public Schools Welcome to Farmington Public Schools on Facebook! It is with this in mind that FPS has implemented these Terms of Use.

Farmington Public Schools • Social Media Terms of Use

The Farmington Public Schools (FPS) believes that public dialogue and communication between the School District, and its employees, parents, students, and concerned community members is important and valuable. As social media is becoming an ever-increasing manner in which people communicate in society, FPS believes it is a worthwhile means to

communicate with its stakeholders and concerned citizens. FPS also believes, however, that part of its responsibilities as a public school district is to encourage civil and respectful dialogue and discussion in teaching the importance of responsible citizenry. These Terms of Use apply to all “FPS Social Media.” That term includes all District operated or District maintained social media sites or accounts. FPS Social Media includes, but is not limited to, the FPS official page or Twitter account, or similar accounts operated or maintained by the District or one of the District’s schools. This does not include other social media sites or accounts that may be somehow associated with FPS but are not specifically created or authorized by FPS or one of its schools (i.e., a booster club or organization that is not officially operated by FPS). By continuing to use FPS Social Media you are agreeing to the terms stated herein. Those who violate these Terms of Use will be subject to the response deemed appropriate by FPS including, but not limited to, having posts deleted or being blocked from the relevant FPS Social Media forum. FPS employees that violate these Terms of Use may be subject to discipline in their capacity as an employee if appropriate. FPS students that violate these Terms of Use may be subject to discipline in their capacity as a student if appropriate. Additionally, FPS will report to local law enforcement any threats (as described in these Terms of Use) or other potentially illegal speech or conduct posted on or through FPS Social Media. As part of these Terms of Use, users of FPS Social Media agree to not engage in or post the following on FPS Social Media sites:

1. Speech, conduct, or material that conveys a profane, sexually suggestive, or objectively offensive message;

2. Speech, conduct, or material that is meant to, or the average person would reasonably believe is meant to, harass or intimidate a person because of that person’s race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other classification protected under Michigan or federal law;

3. Speech, conduct, or material that attacks or impugns the personal character or integrity of any FPS student, parent, employee, officer, agent, volunteer, or individual contracted to work in a school building(s);

4. Speech, conduct, or material that amounts to a threat against the health, safety, or welfare of any FPS facility, student, parent, employee, officer, agent, volunteer, or individual contracted to work in an FPS school building; and

5. Speech, conduct, or material that discloses confidential student information – this would include the posting of student school work without the permission of the student or their parent(s);

Determination of a violation of these Terms of Use will be at the sole discretion of FPS. By using or participating in any form of FPS Social Media, the user agrees to accept and abide by these Terms of Use and accepts FPS as the sole decision-maker relating to its decision on violations of these Terms of Use.

Big congratulations to the FHS DECA Chapter!

This year, their DECA chapter achieved a major accomplishment by earning the highest test scores in the entire state of Michigan. This achievement reflects the dedication, preparation, and academic excellence of our students.

We are proud of our Falcons for representing FHS at such a high level and showcasing what student leadership and career-focused learning can achieve.

Warner Middle School's 8th Grade "Be Kind to Your Mind" Day was a success! 💜

As students prepare for the transition to high school, they participated in engaging sessions focused on wellness, healthy relationships, stress management, digital safety, substance abuse prevention, and more.

A special thank you to our guest speakers, community partners, and staff for making this impactful day possible. We are also grateful for the support of the Farmington Education Association Grant, which helped create this meaningful experience for our students.

Farmington Public Schools was honored to take part in the annual Guru Vandana (Teacher Appreciation) celebration hosted by the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) at the Sri Venkateswara Temple last month. FPS superintendent Dr. Kelly Coffin joined educators, students, and families for this meaningful celebration of gratitude, culture, and community connection.

Guru Vandana, a tradition deeply rooted in Hindu culture, translates to "reverence for the teacher." The event emphasizes the invaluable role that educators play as guides, mentors, and pillars of society.

The celebration commenced with the traditional Deep Prajvalan (lamp lighting), symbolizing the journey from darkness to light through knowledge. Students then welcomed their teachers by reciting traditional hymns and performing a ceremonial Pooja, offering tokens of appreciation to express their deep gratitude.

During the feedback session, attending educators shared moving reflections on the warmth of the community and the vital role that cultural inclusivity plays in enriching the broader school district.

The memorable day concluded with a shared lunch, allowing families, teachers, and administrators to converse and further strengthen their connections. Events like Guru Vandana highlight the powerful bond between home and school, ensuring that FPS continues to be a place where diversity is celebrated and educators are deeply valued.
