Welcome back to the Farmington PD Weekly Safety Minute!
This week's Safety Minute is on Tornado Preparedness.

"In Illinois, nearly 80% of all tornadoes occur from April 1st through June 30th, during the late afternoon and early evening hours. However in the past few years, nearly half of all Illinois tornadoes occurred in the fall or winter (September through February) including an outbreak on February 28th, 2017." - NWS https://www.weather.gov/ilx/SvrPrepWeek-Tuesday

Do not leave your aluminum cans at the City building. The can trailer is for the band boosters and is not affiliated with the City. If they are left in the parking lot, they will be thrown away.

The Farmington Police Department is proud to recognize two outstanding accomplishments within our agency!

Please join us in congratulating Chief Chris Darsham on his graduation from the prestigious School of Police Staff and Command through Northwestern University. This intensive leadership program is recognized nationwide for developing forward-thinking law enforcement leaders, and we are proud to have Chief Darsham represent our department at this level.

We would also like to congratulate Officer Jeremiah Ulm on successfully completing training at Knox County K9 Academy alongside his K9 partner, Pandora. This achievement marks the beginning of an important role in enhancing our department’s capabilities and keeping our community safe.

Both of these accomplishments reflect dedication, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence in service to the City of Farmington.

Please join us in congratulating Chief Darsham, Officer Ulm, and K9 Pandora on their hard work and success!

Today we proudly recognize National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day and the incredible impact our SRO has on the students and staff of the Farmington Schools.

Every day, our School Resource Officer serves as more than just a law enforcement presence. They are a mentor, a role model, a problem solver, and a trusted adult that students know they can turn to. From building positive relationships in the hallways to teaching safety lessons and supporting school events, our SRO plays a vital role in keeping our schools safe and strengthening connections between law enforcement and our community.

We are grateful for the partnership between the Farmington Police Department and Farmington Central School District 265. Together, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment for every student.

Please join us in thanking our SRO for their dedication, compassion, and service to the youth of Farmington.
