🌱🌽 Growing, Harvesting & Learning at McKinley! 🥬🌱

This week, McKinley students harvested fresh collard greens and corn from the garden! They also learned about the importance of weeding and caring for a garden so that plants have the space, water, and nutrients they need to grow. 🌿💚

Did you know about the benefits of these garden favorites?

🥬 Collard Greens: Rich in vitamins A, C, and K, as well as fiber and antioxidants. They support healthy bones, digestion, and the immune system.

🌽 Corn: Provides carbohydrates for energy, fiber to support digestion, and important nutrients such as B vitamins and magnesium.

We’re proud of our students for getting their hands in the soil, learning where food comes from, and discovering the many benefits of growing fresh produce! 🌱💚

Good afternoon, McKinley families! Here are a few things happening at McKinley over the next few weeks:

🎁 September 1 – Charleston Wrap Fundraiser
Fundraiser packets will be sent home! It’s the perfect time to start shopping for Christmas. 🎄 Charleston Wrap offers candles, kitchen gear, gift wrap, bags, accessories, and so much more. A portion of every purchase goes back to McKinley!

📣 September 1 – PTO Meeting
Join us from 4:00–5:00 p.m. in our meeting portable. We would love to hear from you and have you join us!

✏️ September 2 – Smencils for Sale
Smelly pencils will be available for purchase in the office for $2.00 each!

🎩 September 4 – Favorite Hat Day
Every Friday, staff and students can pay $1.00 to wear their favorite hat to school. Let’s see those fun hats! 🎉

🇺🇸 September 7 – No School
There will be no school in observance of Labor Day.

We will hold PTO meetings on the first Tuesday of each month from 4:00–5:00 p.m. in the meeting portable.

Our first PTO meeting will be Tuesday, September 1st! We would love for you to join us!
