Over the past two weeks, the Farmington Police Department conducted a dedicated traffic enforcement task force focused on improving roadway safety throughout our community.

These results reflect the hard work of our officers and the additional resources we are committing to high-visibility enforcement operations. We will continue conducting traffic task forces and saturation patrols in areas where violations and safety concerns are identified.

Our goal is simple: to make our roads safer for everyone. Please slow down, buckle up, avoid distractions, and drive responsibly. We are working hard to keep our community safe, and we ask that you do your part by making safe choices behind the wheel.

Let's all work together to get everyone where they are going safely.

Earlier this week, the Farmington Police Department was contacted by another law enforcement agency regarding an Arizona elderly man who had been reported missing and was the subject of an active Silver Alert. The man suffers from Alzheimer's disease and had significant medical concerns after leaving his residence earlier that morning.

During the search, a license plate reader (LPR) alert indicated the vehicle had entered Farmington. Working quickly, personnel in the Farmington Police Department's Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) reviewed the information and coordinated with officers in the field.

In less than 30 minutes of receiving the information from Arizona, officers from the Farmington Police Department and the Bloomfield Police Department located the vehicle, made contact with the driver, and confirmed the man was safe. He was then connected with the appropriate resources to facilitate his return to Arizona.

This incident highlights how technology can serve as a valuable tool for locating missing and vulnerable individuals. By providing timely information to officers, tools like these can help shorten search times, improve response efforts, and most importantly, help bring people home safely.

Fact: Life jackets only work if you wear them!

Before you and your family get out on the water this year, grab a life jacket and "Wear It!" Nearly 83 percent of those who drown while boating were not wearing a life jacket.

Wearing a life jacket is one of the most effective and simple life-saving strategies for safe recreational boating. Boaters are required to have a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket on board for every passenger on their vessel.

The partnership between the Farmington Police Department and Red Apple Transit continues to make a strong impact across our community.

Since launching our enhanced safety efforts, many riders have shared that they feel more comfortable using public transportation, knowing that buses and key bus stops are equipped with cameras that are monitored in real time by FPD’s Real-Time Crime Center.

Officers continue proactive patrols at bus stops, and Park Rangers maintain a daily presence by riding transit routes throughout the day. Together, these efforts help provide added visibility, faster response to issues, and a safer experience for riders and staff alike.

We remain committed to working together to keep public transportation safe, welcoming, and reliable for everyone in Farmington.
