Independent Community Ditch The Independent Ditch was constructed in 1891 and provides water from the Animas River to ditch shareholder land owners from East Main to the Glade.

Repairs on the Halford ditch have been made, Independent ditch should start filling tonight, it may take a solid day or two before water is fully restored, thank you for your patience.

Attention water members, the Halford ditch has a break and is turning the ditch water off immediately to inspect, this also turns water off to the Independent ditch. Stay tuned here for updates.

Halford Ditch was able to make their pipe repairs today, water should start moving through the Independent ditch tomorrow April-15th.

Halford Ditch shuts down for repair tonight, so there will be no water available in the Independent ditch on Tuesday April 14th. Please plan accordingly.

Attention water members west of Butler Street!

Contractors were able to water jet the plug away at Civitan park. Water is now flowing out to the Glade.

4-7-26 -UPDATE-

Crew worked today on removing plug at Civitan park. Plug was located and partially removed, but due to built up water pressure behind it, a bunch of mess shot past access point further down the pipe plugging it again. We have a contractor coming Thursday morning to see if we can water jet the debris free. Thank you for your patience as we try to get water moving again.

-UPDATE-

The ditch has made its way to Civitan golf course. We have encountered a plug in the pipe at Civitan park that is restricting water flow to the west out to the glade. Our crew will be working on the plug removal this morning in hopes to restore water quickly. Thank you for your patience as we are getting the water delivered.

Water has made its way through the Halford ditch system, which means that the Independent ditch can start flowing today! Mayor Domo Darin will start flowing water this morning (4-3-26). Please keep headgates closed a few days so ditch can flow and debris can pass by. Enjoy the irrigation season, Please report any ditch issues to Mayor Domo 505-402-9554.
