In this month’s hands-on training evolution, members of Farmington Fire Rescue focused on the critical fireground tactic of Vent-Enter-Search (VES) along with the effective use of positive pressure ventilation fans.
Crews practiced coordinated operations involving ground ladder placement, window entry, rapid room search, and victim isolation techniques under simulated fire conditions. Emphasis was placed on decision-making, firefighter safety, and maintaining situational awareness while operating in limited visibility environments.
The training also included the strategic use of ventilation fans to improve interior conditions, enhance search visibility, and support interior fire attack operations. Members worked on proper placement, timing, and coordination of ventilation with search crews to maximize effectiveness on the fireground.
These evolutions help reinforce essential skills used in structure fire operations, ensuring our members remain prepared for real-world emergencies where seconds matter and teamwork saves lives.
