Looking back on the papier-mâché mask-making process!

Students explored each step of the process—building forms, layering paper, practicing patience as their creations dried, and finally bringing their masks to life with vibrant colors and unique details.

Today, we honor Juneteenth—a day of freedom, reflection, resilience, and celebration.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It serves as both a celebration of liberation and a reminder of the ongoing journey toward equity and justice.

At Cobblestone Arts Center, we believe that every person deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and empowered to share their unique voice. Through art, education, and community, we strive to create spaces where diversity is celebrated and everyone belongs.

Today, we encourage our community to learn, reflect, listen, and celebrate the rich contributions of Black artists, leaders, and changemakers whose impact continues to shape our world.

Our Waterloo crew has been hard at work creating a colorful collection of spring-themed art projects that capture the energy, movement, and wonder of the season. From snazzy cars and creative bicycles to swirling tornados, soaring hot air balloons, and cozy bird nests, each piece showcases the imagination and unique artistic style of its creator.

These projects encouraged our artists to explore the sights, sounds, and adventures that come with spring while experimenting with different materials, textures, and techniques. We love seeing their creativity bloom right alongside the season! 🌼✨

🐛From caterpillar to butterfly! 🦋

Our artists have been exploring the incredible life cycle of a butterfly through creativity and imagination. Using a variety of materials and techniques, they brought each stage of the transformation to life—from tiny eggs and hungry caterpillars to cozy chrysalises and beautiful butterflies ready to spread their wings.

This project sparked conversations about growth, change, and the wonders of nature while encouraging self-expression through art. We are so proud of the creativity, focus, and colorful masterpieces our artists created along the way!

June in Frames

This month, we embraced all the beauty that spring has to offer! From spending time outdoors and soaking up the sunshine to building imaginative creations with LEGO bricks, every day brought new opportunities to learn, explore, and connect.

We also got our hands dirty planting flowers and celebrating the season of growth—watching both our gardens and our creativity bloom along the way.

Building a Foundation for Service

As a Human Services major at FLCC, Chloe brought compassion, curiosity, and a strong desire to make a difference to her internship experience at Cobblestone Arts Center. Throughout her time with us, she gained hands-on experience supporting adults with disabilities while learning more about the impact of nonprofit work and inclusive programming.

Chloe's passion for helping others doesn't stop here—she plans to continue her education by pursuing a bachelor's degree in Sociology followed by a master's degree in Social Work.

We're grateful for the care, dedication, and positive energy Chloe shared with our community. We know she has a bright future ahead, and we can't wait to see all the lives she'll touch along the way!

🎭 Auditions are here! 🎭

Cobblestone Arts Center and the Cobblestone Community Players are excited to announce open auditions for the Players' upcoming theatrical season, with their fall production of Mean Girls The Musical taking the spotlight!

Audition Dates: (attend just ONE)
Sunday, August 9th | 1:00PM
Monday, August 10th | 6:00PM

Callbacks:
Thursday, August 13th (by invitation)

This is the only audition window for the whole season. Locking in your spot for Mean Girls also opens the door for your to participate in our smaller winter and spring productions, no additional auditions required!

What to expect: a group dance combination, a scene reading, and an a ca****la singing audition (32 bars max).

Maddy joined us as a Human Services major from FLCC, eager to learn more about the nonprofit world. During her time at Cobblestone, she shared her creativity through artistic projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience working alongside our staff and students.
