Our firemedics finally have the ability to provide the same level of medical care at Storrs that they have been providing in Farmington for over 50 years. This historic milestone would not be possible without the the hardwork of so many people at UConn, UConn Health, CPFU, IAFF Local S-15 CT State Firefighters executive board, legislators, and the communities we serve. Thank you to all who played any part they could in making this a reality. We look forward to working side by side with the talented medics from Windham Hospital to provide professional, advanced level prehospital medicine to the Storrs campus.

Our deepest sympathies go out to our mutual aid partners at Avon Volunteer Fire Department. Many of us had the pleasure of working incidents alongside Deputy Chief Theriault for a number of years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and our brothers and sisters at AVFD.

The Avon Volunteer Fire Department shares a formal statement honoring the life and service of Deputy Chief David Theriault, a lifelong member of our department and a dedicated servant to the Town of Avon.

We invite our community to read and remember Dave’s legacy of leadership, mentorship, and service.
