Tuesday, July 14, 6 - 8 p.m., June 30 at the Dakota County Fairgrounds Horse arena, 4008 220th St W, Farmington.

Cost: $5 each session, per horse/rider; no charge for HLH participants. Payable to Dakota County 4-H; online payment available. Minimum of 6 participants registered in order to hold clinic.

Both sessions: Trail class with clinician Blaine Burt. Blain is a professional horse trainer and WSCA judge.

Trail Clinic is for all levels of riders. Learn the best way to maneuver your horse through each obstacle. This will include cones, bridge, gate, logs.

5:30 p.m. Registration; Warm up in Main Arena, be ready to go at 6 p.m. (The warm-up arena and announcer’s booth will NOT be available).
6:00-6:45 p.m. Clinician will work with participants and their horses on individual obstacles
6:45-7:00 p.m. Break
7:00-7:45/8 p.m. Participants and horses will receive guidance completing the Trail Course

LAST DAY TO REGISTER: Caprine & Core: 4-H Goat Yoga Adventure - June 22

Ready to stretch your limits and your funny bone? Join us for a unique fitness experience where standard yoga poses meet the unpredictable joy of miniature goats! In this workshop, you’ll learn basic yoga stretches to improve your flexibility and balance, all while our four-legged 4-H partners wander through the class, offer a little "moral support," and maybe even hop on your back.

When: Monday, June 22, 6-8 p.m.
Where: Sunshine Linings Studio, 24230 Logan Ave. in Lakeville
Who: Youth enrolled in 4-H Online, grades K-13 and adults.
Cost: Free

Beyond the poses, you’ll get a chance to learn about goat behavior, socialization, and what it takes to care for these interactive animals. No previous yoga or livestock experience required—just bring a mat you don't mind getting a little dusty and a positive attitude!

Horsemanship/Equitation - clinician Ellie Frederickson - 4-H alumni, competitor and experienced horse woman.

Horsemanship is a class that pattern work matters. Get sound advice on ways to improve your skills. No matter what level you are, this is an opportunity to find out what to practice on before the fair. The Judge is judging the rider more than the horse. If you would like to ride Western and English, start with Western and you can switch after the break to English for Equitation. Western Riders can continue with both.

Participant Age: Grades 3 and above

If you are looking for an opportunity to work directly with a trainer or judge this is it. Blaine will work with each participant at their level. Youth will learn what judges look for and how to show their best at the fair. Either English, Western or you can switch half way. All are welcome. Come with any questions you have about tack, your horse, or competing.

Other Requirements: Horse ID and negative 2026 Coggins must be current in 4-H Online. Bring proof of negative Coggins and your own water to the arena. Helmets must be worn for 4-H events.

Another successful 4-H Overnight Camp is in the books!

What an incredible few days filled with learning, laughter, leadership, new friendships, and unforgettable memories. Our campers embraced new challenges, built confidence, explored the outdoors, and demonstrated the true spirit of 4-H every step of the way.

A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated counselors, volunteers and staff who made this camp experience possible. Your time, energy, and commitment help create opportunities that make a lasting impact on our youth.
We are so proud of each camper for their enthusiasm, kindness, and willingness to grow. Thank you for making this year's overnight camp such a tremendous success, we can't wait to do it all again next year!

Dakota County 4-H interns out with girl scout camp partner, providing environmental and STEM education on June 15. Over 200 youth learned about volcanoes on a perfect summer day in Apple Valley.

Day 2 was filled with adventure, teamwork, and unforgettable memories!

Campers embraced every opportunity to explore and challenge themselves through canoeing, archery, rock climbing, and another fun-filled afternoon at the beach.

The day ended on a high note as everyone gathered around the campfire to make delicious s'mores before dancing the night away with friends. From trying new activities to building lasting friendships, Day 2 was a wonderful reminder of what makes 4-H camp so special confidence, courage, connection, and plenty of fun!
