🚽 Important: Close Your Toilet Lids!
Because we use high-pressure water jets, air can sometimes push through your home's pipes. To avoid any messy "splashes" or water coming up through your drains, please keep all toilet lids closed while crews are working on your street.
Quick Tip: After the crews finish, pour about a half-gallon of water down each drain (sinks, tubs, and floor drains) to keep sewer smells out of your home.
We appreciate your cooperation!

The Town of Farmland will be cleaning and televising sanitary sewers the week of March 23, 2026. Robinson Pipe Cleaning will be in town to perform this work. The contractor will be performing this work in different areas throughout town shown on the attached map in red. The purpose of this letter is to inform you about the work and advise you of what to expect.
The cleaning of the sewers will be performed primarily with a high-pressure water jet. As the cleaning hose passes your service’s connection to the sewer, the jetting action of the water can force air through the lateral to the plumbing fixtures in your home. This means that some homes could potentially experience some water around floor drains and/or the toilets. Poor or inadequate plumbing stack ventilation in the house is usually the biggest factor. If the air cannot escape fast enough, it forces its way up through the floor drains and/or toilet bowl water. To help minimize the effects, the cleaning crew will vent the main line by opening the upstream manhole and using the minimum pressure possible to accomplish the cleaning. You can help to minimize clean-ups by keeping all toilet lids closed and keeping traps filled with clean water.
Sewer gases and odors are also a possibility if the traps in your fixtures have become dry. The “U” or “P” shaped trap is designed to hold water to provide a barrier to prevent these odors from entering your home. The forced air created during cleaning or evaporation over time removes that water barrier. Please use or pour a half gallon of water into each fixture to re-seal those traps after the cleaning crew has completed work on your street. You may also experience slow drains if roots within your service connection hold residual dirt.
Your cooperation during this work is appreciated.
