🚨Safety Saturday🚨

School is right around the corner, and with it coming at us at full speed, we wanted to remind everyone about the rules for passing a school bus!

Below are the situations when you can and cannot pass a school bus. We understand you may be in a hurry, but these rules are in place to help protect our children. Please review the laws below and help us protect our future! Stay safe and have a great school year! 🚌🚸

🚨Fun Fact Friday🚨

Have you noticed people at our station 7 days a week? Maybe you’ve noticed that our bay doors are open a lot more? Well, if you have, that’s because we are a combination department!

What does that mean? It means we have both paid staff and volunteers!

Currently, we have 9 paid part-time staff members who work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. These positions help us get trucks out the door and provide additional hands on calls. Our volunteers respond alongside our paid staff and work hand in hand with them.

For now, we don’t have paid staff at night. So, when you hear that alarm going off at 11:00 p.m., someone is choosing to leave the comfort of their home and respond to that call.

🚨SAFETY SATURDAY🚨

It’s that time of year when you start packing those bags and sending them off to college. Hopefully, you’ve taught them plenty of life skills to help them navigate this new adventure, but did you cover microwave safety? 😅

That’s okay, because we will! Below are some important safety tips for microwave ovens, including what to do and what NOT to do.
Please share this with your kids, wife, husband, friends, family—anyone! You never know who might need a little refresher.

Today, we celebrate our 125th anniversary as a member of the North Carolina State Firefighters’ Association!

The association serves more than 53,000 firefighters and over 1,246 fire departments across North Carolina. It focuses on advocacy, training, benefits, and legislative engagement for both volunteer and paid departments.

We are proud to be a part of an association that supports, advocates for, and fights for our firefighters. Here’s to 125 years of serving those who serve! 🚒🔥

We had some visitors a couple of days ago! The kids from the Rising Star Summer Camp stopped by to learn about fire safety, see what a fire truck looks like, get a tour of the station, and even fight some fire!

A big thanks to all of our members who were able to help make the kiddos’ day! Also, a huge thank you to the Walstonburg Fire Department for allowing us to borrow their prop! The kids had a blast! 🚒🔥
