Congratulations to our very own Neil Miller for his recent promotion to serve as our C-Shift Crew Chief!

Neil has been an EMT-B provider with our agency since November 2021, first as a Volunteer and then as a paid provider before graduating from Longwood in May 2025 with a bachelors degree in business administration. While at Longwood, Neil served in a variety of leadership roles, including as President of the Student Government Association, making him Student Body President.

After graduation, Neil worked for MMT Ambulance doing BLS transport services, before coming back to Farmville to work for his home agency full-time in March 2026. Since returning, Neil has once again proven himself an invaluable member of the PEVRS family, taking on additional responsibilities as a Training Specialist and Fleet Specialist, where he has continued earning the respect and admiration of our paid and volunteer providers.

Please join us in congratulating Neil on his well-earned promotion and thanking him for his consistent and selfless service to the Heart of Virginia! 🚑👏

This weekend is gonna be a hot one! Check out this information from Prince Edward County, and don’t forget to:
🚰 Drink plenty of water! Hydration is a key to battling the heat.
🏡 Stay inside if possible.
🧊 Frequently find cool places to rest and recuperate if you do have to spend time outside.
🚙 Never leave pets or kids in the car, even with AC in use.
🤝 Check on your neighbors, the elderly and the most vulnerable among us.

If you see someone struggling with the heat, lend a hand and call 911 if it’s an emergency.

☀️ EXTREME HEAT ALERT ☀️

With dangerous heat and heat index values expected across our area, Prince Edward County Emergency Management has partnered with several community locations to provide temporary cooling centers for residents needing relief from the extreme temperatures.

Please review the attached graphic for locations and hours of operation. We encourage everyone to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, and check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone without access to air conditioning.

If you are experiencing a heat-related emergency, call 911 immediately.
