Training never stops at the Farmville Fire Department. Our members and staff regularly dedicate time to developing their skills, strengthening teamwork, and improving their readiness to respond when called upon. This week, the Engine 1 Committee, consisting of Chief Clark, Assistant Chief Palmore, Lieutenant Shult, and Sergeant Whaley, traveled to Pierce Manufacturing for the Final Customer Acceptance of our new Engine.

During the visit, the committee conducted a thorough inspection of the apparatus, reviewed its features and operations, and ensured it met the specifications and standards established by the department. The successful completion of Final Customer Acceptance marks a major milestone in the process of bringing this new apparatus into service.

We are excited to be one step closer to placing this new apparatus in service and enhancing our ability to serve the community. This new apparatus will enhance our operational capabilities and provide our firefighters with modern equipment to safely and effectively respond to emergencies.

Members of the Farmville Fire Department recently attended training at Parker Oil Company, where Kevin Lackey provided valuable instruction on propane safety, storage, and potential hazards.

This training helps our firefighters better understand the risks associated with propane and strengthens their ability to respond safely and effectively to related emergencies. Ongoing training like this ensures our members stay prepared to protect both themselves and the community.

We appreciate Parker Oil Company and Kevin Lackey for their time and commitment to firefighter education.

The following roads will be closed today for the Venable St storm sewer inspection:

S Main St from Robeson St to High St.

Fourth St from N South St to S Main St.

Also, access to the First Citizen’s Bank Parking lot (201 S Main St) will be limited.

The Town of Farmville will have detours in place.
