The Farmville Fire Department is a full-service public safety agency providing services to the Town of Farmville, Virginia and to the surrounding areas in portions of Prince Edward, Cumberland, and Buckingham Counties. Farmville is home to Longwood University, Green Front Furniture, Centra-Southside Community Hospital and the Farmville Regional Airport. The Department’s 45 volunteer members provid

e fire suppression, education, and prevention services to the nearly 10,000 people in our first due area from our station located in downtown Farmville. In addition, the department’s Special Operations Unit, the only one of its kind for nearly 50 miles, provides response to, and mitigation of, incidents involving hazardous materials, suspected terrorist or criminal activity, and when specialized services are requested by other agencies.

Today was a big day for the Farmville Fire Department, our members, and our staff!

We were proud to celebrate two major milestones for our department and our community: the official groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation of the Farmville Fire Station and the push-in ceremony for our new Engine.

The renovation of our station represents an investment not only in a building, but in the firefighters who serve from it every day. The improvements will provide our members with a safer, more functional, and more modern facility for training, responding to emergencies, maintaining our equipment, and preparing for the needs of our growing community.

We were also proud to officially place our new Engine in service with a traditional push-in ceremony. This new apparatus brings updated technology, equipment, and capabilities that will help our firefighters provide dependable fire and emergency services to the citizens of Farmville and the surrounding communities for many years to come.

Together, these two milestones represent an exciting new chapter for the Farmville Fire Department. While we are proud of our department’s history and traditions, today was about preparing for what comes next. A renovated station and a new Engine will give both our current and future firefighters the resources they need to train, serve, and protect our community.

We are grateful to the Town of Farmville, The Farmville Town Council, The Town of Farmville Administration, community partners, and everyone who has supported these projects and continues to support the Farmville Fire Department.

Today we celebrated how far we have come and took another big step toward the future of the Farmville Fire Department.

A big thank you to DripDrop and National Volunteer Fire Council for including Farmville Fire Department in the 2026 DripDrop Hydration Giveback Campaign! This donation of DripDrop electrolyte drink mix will help keep our firefighters and EMS providers hydrated during training, emergency responses, extreme heat, and long incidents. Staying hydrated helps our crews perform at their best and stay safe on the job. 💧🚒

The Farmville Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who came out today to support First Responder Day. It was a wonderful day filled with community, fun, and the opportunity to connect with so many familiar and new faces.

It was great to see families meeting their local first responders, exploring the emergency vehicles, and spending time with the many public safety agencies that serve our community. We were also honored to be able to provide school supplies through Sirens for Supplies to help students get ready for the upcoming school year.

Thank you again to everyone who attended. We truly appreciate your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you again at future community events!

Today, August 1st, is the day! Join us for First Responder Day from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Prince Edward Middle School!

Bring the whole family out to meet your local first responders, explore emergency vehicles and equipment, and enjoy a fun-filled day with members of the Farmville Fire Department, Farmville Police Department, Prince Edward Co. Sheriff's Office , Prince Edward Rescue, and many other public safety agencies.

As part of our Sirens for Supplies initiative, we’ll also be giving away free school supplies to students while supplies last to help families get ready for the upcoming school year.

We look forward to seeing everyone today for a day of community, family fun, and supporting our local students!

The Farmville Fire Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who participated in the 2026 Heartland Heroes Blood Drive today. Whether you donated blood, volunteered your time, or helped spread the word, your support made a difference.

For only the second time in its history, the American Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis. Blood donations have fallen to a four year summer low, and patients may already be feeling the impact. The need remains especially critical for Type O blood donors, but donations of all blood types are needed to help ensure hospitals have lifesaving blood available for those who need it most.

Thank you to everyone who donated school supplies during the Sirens for Supplies event!

A special thank you to everyone who stopped by and donated, helping make this year’s event a success. We’d also like to thank the Farmville Police Department, Prince Edward Co. Sheriff's Office , and Prince Edward Rescue, for supporting our community.

Because of your generosity, these local agencies collected an incredible amount of school supplies that will be distributed to local students during First Responders Day.

Join us on Saturday, August 1, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Prince Edward Middle School. Bring the kids out to meet your local first responders and pick up school supplies while supplies last.

Help Us Fill the Backpacks!

The Farmville Fire Department is proud to partner with our local law enforcement and EMS agencies for Sirens for Supplies, a community-wide school supply drive benefiting students in our area.

Join us at Walmart on Saturday, July 18th to help ensure local students have the supplies they need for a successful start to the new school year.

Stop by our collection table, pick up a list of needed items, and consider donating if you’re able. Every notebook, pencil, backpack, and box of crayons makes a difference!

Together, we can help set our students up for success. We hope to see you there!
