The Prince Edward County TRIAD invites our community to join us for our Winter Community TRIAD Event on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Fireman’s Arena in Farmville.

We are honored to welcome two outstanding guest speakers:

🎤 Pamela Fortune, Senior Attorney with Virginia Legal Aid

This event will focus on resources, safety, and support for our senior community.
Vendors will be on-site

‼️SCAM ALERT FOR PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY‼️

We have had a scam reported with citizens being called from someone stating they are the "Prince Edward Police Department" and stating they have a warrant and fines need to be paid.

First, there is NO Prince Edward Police Department, there is the Prince Edward Co. Sheriff's Office and us, the Farmville Police Department.

Second, we will NEVER tell you to pay your fines by phone to our department. Fines are paid to the court, not to our department, and you would need to contact them for ways to pay.

Third, we will NEVER settle a warrant by phone as a warrant has to be served in person. We cannot do that by telephone.

If you receive these calls, simply ignore them, do not answer numbers you do not recognize, and if you have any concerns, please call our office directly at 434-392-3332 and we will get you to the right person to confirm if there is anything for you. Do NOT give someone you don't know ANY information about yourself over the phone, and ALWAYS call the office they are claiming to be on your own, directly, instead of speaking with them.

By following those tips, let's help stop scams like this together before they even start!

Emergency Alert from Prince Edward County

All residents in the Pamplin/Prospect area, at this time please lock your doors and remain inside your residence. Homicide suspect is on foot in the area and he is armed and dangerous, law enforcement are in the area working to apprehend the subject at this time. Suspect is a 24 year old black male, wearing no shirt and black pants, is armed with a handgun.
