Occasionally I’ll opine on state and national issues, not often, but there are moments.
Non-partisan redistricting, ranked choice voting, amending Citizen United, algorithmic transparency laws and amending Section 230. These are things I think will combat the divisiveness in our country. I touched on the social media part at WFLO Radio recently.

Memorial Day has a request implicit in the name. It’s different than Veterans Day. Today I am thinking about all who made the ultimate sacrifice, including my father LTC Rick Vincent. Today, I also hold the families of the fallen in my heart. 🇺🇸

There are now 12 reported cases in neighboring Buckingham County, which would suggest there are more measles cases in the area. Find VDH recommendations below.

The Virginia Department of Health is announcing a measles outbreak in Buckingham County. As of May 13, VDH has identified 12 outbreak-associated measles cases in the area. No patients reported recent travel. Without travel, the timing of these cases suggests local transmission. There are likely more measles cases than have been reported. In response, VDH is sharing important reminders and encouraging vaccination.

My previous colonoscopy post sparked some comment section responses about our rural community hospital. One of the hallmarks of this time is having nuanced, complex issues boiled down to easily digestible outrage fuel. And I get it, these issues impact real people, and our emotions get involved. But in order to talk through these things, I think we need to dive into the nuance. This Cardinal News piece is a good starting place.
