⚠️ Traffic Alert ⚠️

There has been an accident involving a light pole in the area of W Third Street and North Street.

Please be advised that W Third Street will be closed between North Street and N Main Street until further notice. The incident has also affected the traffic signal at the intersection of Third Street and N Main Street.

Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling in the area and seek alternate routes if possible.

As we wrap up National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Farmville-Prince Edward Emergency Communications is proud to not only celebrate our dedicated Communications Officers, but also recognize several outstanding members of our team for their commitment and service.

This year, Takeya Hicks was named Communications Officer of the Year. Takeya consistently demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and a strong commitment to serving our community. Her ability to remain calm under pressure and provide exceptional service makes her truly deserving of this recognition.

We also honored several individuals for their years of dedicated service:

Chris McKay – 30 Years of Service
Chris has devoted three decades to public safety communications, serving as a steady and reliable presence in the center. His experience and knowledge have helped guide and mentor countless team members over the years.

Tim Seamster – 25 Years of Service
Tim’s 25 years of service reflect a career built on dedication, consistency. His contributions have made a lasting impact on both the agency and the community we serve.

Mike Driskill – 15 Years of Service
Mike’s 15 years of service highlight his commitment to excellence and teamwork. He continues to play an important role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

We are incredibly proud of each of these individuals and grateful for the dedication they bring to Farmville–Prince Edward Emergency Communications every day. Please join us in congratulating them on these well-deserved achievements.

As we begin to close out National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, Farmville-Prince Edward Emergency Communications would like to take a moment to recognize and thank our dedicated Communications Officers.

Day in and day out, they are the calm voice in the chaos, the steady hand behind every call, and the vital link between our community and emergency responders. Their professionalism, compassion, and commitment do not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly proud of the work they do for Prince Edward County and the Town of Farmville.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to our partner agencies and organizations who helped make this week special for our team. Thank you to the Farmville Police Department and the Prince Edward Co. Sheriff's Office for the pizzas, the Longwood University Police Department for the cookies, and CTA for providing dinner during our staff meeting, and Walmart Farmville for the generous goodie baskets.

Your support means a great deal to our Communications Officers and is a true reflection of the strong partnerships we share in serving our community.
