Spring has sprung!
THANK YOU for the awesome turnout to our first Easter 🐣 event in over 2 years.
special thanks to all those that helped!

Just a trickle..

Today I got a tour of our water system, this is one of our springs, apparently this is historically a gully washer this time of year, not so much this year.
This is our drinking water 💦 let’s be mindful of our usage.
As we drove around we also saw all the new growth, it’s overwhelming, more humans less water, the math doesn’t add up for me.
Thank you Blake for your time and knowledge sharing.

Sounds like a great idea!!

One of the most frequent messages/ requests /complaints I get from residents is, people are driving way too fast through our neighborhoods.
This includes nearly every neighborhood in the city.
Some of the suggestions for combating this are speed bumps, stop signs, speed feedback signs, and increased patrols. Some of these are more effective than others, some of them have been tried, none of them are free and of course the safety of all of us especially our children are the most important thing.
But none of them are as effective as each of us taking personal responsibility and simply slowing down.
As we address this and attempt to implement the best solutions, we are asking..
PLEASE SLOW DOWN!!
Most of the violators are our neighbors, talk to them and ask them to slow down too!
Wherever you’re going in such a hurry is not worth harming anyone.
THANK YOU for being responsible, respectful neighbors and for tolerating my requests.

“Missing Middle Housing”
I've been hearing a lot of discussion about this topic. The Utah State Legislature is discussing this topic, Weber County is discussing this topic. I just wanted to share this so that we can all be informed about it. Not blind sided by it.
Another hot topic is WATER (or the lack of it). Our secondary water is most likely going to be metered in the near future.
We get to deal with these conflicting 'crises', more housing & less water in the near future.
Stay Tuned!!

One of the assignments I have (and I gave to myself) is Code Enforcement.
So instead of calling the city offices with your complaint, I am asking that you use this form to document the violation and cite the code that is being violated. Documentation is key to our ability to enforce, both logistically and legally.

Council member Boyd Ferrin and I got a personal tour and an opportunity to sit in the assault vehicle, I’m thinking of borrowing it for code enforcement 😁.

Representative Matthew Gwynn took time to meet with me, he’s one of the few in the legislature with local government experience.
That’s good for us, especially for my role on the LPC Legislative Policy Committee.

Our Story

Current Service: I am currently serving on your Farr West City Council. I previously served on the Planning Commission, we worked tirelessly on going through all the city municipal codes updating what's outdated, removing what's unneeded, and clarifying what's confusing. The update of the General Plan was enhanced by seeking more input from the citizens of Farr West, we had a booth at the Freedom Festival, held an Open House, and a Public Hearing. Public input is important to a solid General Plan. I am a member of the Smith Family Park committee which is made up of city officials, staff, and most importantly citizens. Our design plans were helpful in presentations that resulted in over $400,000.00 in RAMP and other Grant funds for the park with hopefully more to come. I am also serving as the city's web & social media administrator, I created and administer farrwestcity.org where citizens have access to news, applications and checklists, the General Plan, and the Municipal Code. I also created and administer Facebook & twitter accounts for the city to better communicate with it's citizens young and old. I do this voluntarily and with little compensation. Previous Service: I served for over 3 years on the Farr West Planning Commission as it's Vice Chairman and actively participated in the creation and adoption of the new General Plan for Farr West City. Prior to moving to Farr West in 2004, I was the president of the Valley Terrace Home Owners Association in Ogden for 10 years. I managed the budget, coordinated projects, collaborated with vendors and contractors. It was like running a small town but on a much smaller scale. Why am I running again? I'm running FOR Farr West City Council. I will always participate in the process as I've shown over the past several years, I'd just like to be in a position where I can help get things done. Ultimately it's the council with leadership of the mayor that make the final decisions on most all proposals brought to the city. Since the adoption of the 2009 General Plan there are 4 follow on plans plus one more added to the 2015 General Plan that were recommended that have not been fully implemented yet. - Economic Development Plan - Transportation Master Plan - Capital Improvement (Common Facilities) Plan - Parks and Recreation Master Plan - Broadband Strategic Plan (new) All plans take time so getting started is important! I have convinced the Planning Chair and he has now assigned each of these to a commission member. This will allow the city to be more proactive than reactive. As a council member I will ensure these stay a priority. If you choose to support me, it will be greatly appreciated!!
