City Of Farrell, Pa Founded as the Borough of South Sharon in 1901, you can find us along the border of Pennsylvania and Ohio in the southwestern corner of Mercer County.

We are an ethnically diverse community that takes great pride in our history, neighborhoods, parks, and schools. This small City of 5,000 residents is nestled in between the UPMC Horizon hospital to the east, and an industrial corridor to our west. With close proximity to Interstate 80 and 79, and being between Cleveland and Pittsburgh, we are close to it all!

📚 FROM THE ARCHIVES | FARRELL HIGH SCHOOL

A look back at Farrell High School in 1965.

For generations of Farrell residents, high school was more than classrooms and textbooks. It was where friendships were made, memories were created and important years of life were shared.

As we celebrate 125 years of Farrell, we want to hear from the people who helped make that history.

Did you attend Farrell High School? Share your favorite memories, stories or photos from your high school years — we'd love to take a look back with you. 💙

Did you know that Farrell Golden Dawn is one of the last remaining links to a massive regional grocery history? 🛒

While the Golden Dawn franchise once grew to over 135 stores across PA and OH, our very own Farrell location stands proud today as one of only a handful of original, independent stores keeping that historic name alive.

From its legacy under beloved community operators like Herman Magnotto and Joe Mastriano, to continuing to feed the Shenango Valley fresh meats and produce today—Golden Dawn is a true Farrell staple.

📸 WE WANT TO SEE THE LAST 25 YEARS OF FARRELL!

Farrell’s story doesn’t stop with the history books.

As we work toward celebrating 125 years of our community, we’re looking to collect photos and memories from the past 25 years — the people, places, events and everyday moments that have helped shape Farrell in more recent years.

Earlier chapters of Farrell’s history have been well documented through previous commemorative books. Now, we want to make sure the years from 2001 to today are represented, too.

Did you take photos at a Farrell event? Have pictures of a favorite local gathering place? Captured a community celebration, neighborhood, business or just an everyday moment that feels like Farrell?

We’d love to see them. https://form.jotform.com/261863267436061

Your photos could help preserve this chapter of Farrell’s story for generations to come.

📩 If you have photos or memories to share, send them to us!

For generations, Little League has been part of growing up in Farrell — bringing kids, families and the community together on the ballfield.

This photo from 1950 offers a glimpse of Little League in Farrell more than 75 years ago. The photo from 2025 shows that some things may look different, but the spirit of community that comes with youth baseball continues.

Do you have memories or photos from your own Little League days in Farrell? âš¾
