Near critical to critical fire weather danger continues today and Thursday. Fire weather conditions will expand eastward across a larger part of Oklahoma as high winds combine with low humidity across most of the state. A Red Flag Warning is in effect again today.

Please continue to postpone any burning or activities that could spark a wildfire. If you have had a recent burn, please monitor as an ember can be blown elsewhere.

🚩🚩🚩CRITICAL 🚩🚩🚩
Fire behavior on any wildfire today will likely exhibit very-rapid to extreme rates of fire spread and prove highly resistant to control with accelerated drying in recent days. The Probability of Significant Fire Occurrence is forecast for the entire state of Oklahoma. Rates of fire spread on fires established in tall-grass and rangeland fuels will move 2.5 to 6 mph (faster in some cases) while extreme fire behavior including torching, spotting and crown fire will be observed on established fires.

Citizens – Report any suspected fire activity to 9-1-1 and heed evacuation instruction from local law enforcement and emergency management.

Firefighters – Avoid frontal assault insuring that escape routes are established and safety zones identified.
Atoka County has been placed under a Red Flag Warning through 10 pm tonight. This is a rare occurrence for Atoka County and should not be taken lightly! Please refrain from any outdoor burning and if a fire is noticed call 911 immediately!

Prayers for all.

Air Evac Lifeteam is heartbroken to report that three crew members have perished in an incident that occurred on Saturday, January 20. At 11:23 pm local time AEL's Operations Control Center (OCC) lost contact with the aircraft, a Bell 206L3 with call sign N295AE. The crew is based out of Weatherford, OK, and was returning to base after completing a patient care transport in Oklahoma City when the OCC lost contact with them. Nearby AEL teams assisted local law enforcement with the search.

Our primary focus is on supporting the families and our team members. CISM teams have been sent to assist our team members during this time. Please reach out if you would like to speak with them.

At this time, we are not sharing the names of the crew members aboard the flight. We ask that you respect the privacy of our team members and their families, and please do not share their names.

AEL has turned over the scene and investigation to the NTSB.
