Tonya Mixon selected for Star of Life award

Fayette Co EMS is always ready to respond, at a moment’s notice, to aid those experiencing a medical or traumatic emergency. According to Greg Rainey, FCEMS Operations Manager, “We have a great team of EMS professionals that are able to respond to and manage 911 calls when people need help the most. It is also important to recognize team members who represent EMS as the profession it is.” Criterion used in the “Star of Life” process include significant contributions to the EMS field, leadership and a consistent service record which exemplifies FCEMS’ mission statement to “provide personalized and professional care to the community.” This year’s “Star of Life” is Tonya Mixon. Mixon was selected for this award due to her clinical excellence in caring for patients. She is also a driving factor within the organization to promote excellence at all levels being recognized as a role model for her colleagues. In addition to work, she also participated in the Relay for Life program. “I can honestly say that if I ever required an EMS response for me or my family, I would be relieved to see Tonya show up as the EMT Paramedic,” said Rainey. “All of our team members are EMS experts, but it is nice to be able to recognize Tonya.
