⚠️ Fireworks Show Update ⚠️

Due to severe weather, including rain and lightning, the City of Fayette made the decision to end tonight’s fireworks show early to ensure the safety of everyone in attendance.

While we know many were looking forward to the full show, the safety of our residents, visitors, staff, and first responders will always be our top priority.

We sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and cooperation as weather conditions changed.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and to all of the city staff, public safety personnel, and volunteers who helped make the evening possible.

We appreciate your continued support of the City of Fayette and look forward to seeing you at future community events.

🚨 PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT 🚨

On June 24, 2026, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Fayette Police Department received a report of a male subject wearing a mask who appeared to be carrying a firearm near the Head Start building and traveling toward the rear of the Health Department.

Officers immediately responded and conducted a thorough search of the area. Additional law enforcement agencies assisted in the search, which extended as far as Highway 33.

After approximately two hours, the search concluded with no further sightings of the individual.

The investigation later determined that the individual was not armed and was only wearing a COVID mask. At this time, there is no threat to public safety related to this incident.

The Fayette Police Department appreciates the public’s vigilance and encourages residents to continue reporting suspicious activity. We thank our partnering agencies for their assistance and our citizens for their cooperation throughout this incident.
