The Fayette County Commission is accepting resumes to fill the vacant County Commissioner seat for the Plateau District following the passing of Commissioner Greg Fernett.

Qualified applicants must submit a resume outlining their qualifications, relevant experience, and knowledge of the duties of County Commissioner as defined in West Virginia State Code by Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.

The Fayette County Commission shares the following arrangements for Commissioner Greg Fernett:

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the Glen Jean Armory.

• Family Visitation: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
• Public Visitation: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Funeral Service: 4:00 p.m.

Burial will follow at Highlawn Cemetery.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and served alongside him.

🚨 Tire Collection Update – Wednesday, 4/15/26 🚨

Due to a large number of tires being left out on a non-collection day, the tire collection scheduled for tomorrow, April 15, 2026, has been postponed to next month.

We kindly ask everyone to please refrain from leaving tires on non-collection days so we can continue offering these collection events in the future.

If you have an immediate need to dispose of tires outside of collection days, please feel free to contact Litter Control Officer Dan Helton at 304-992-9991. He’ll be happy to help.

🚨 Fayette County Water Update – Fayetteville 🚨

The Fayette County Commission wants to inform residents that West Virginia American Water crews have been performing emergency repairs on a main break in Fayetteville starting 3/25/26 at 10:00 AM. Repairs are expected to take about 5 hours.

Residents in the affected area may experience:
💧 Discolored or cloudy water
💧 Low water pressure
💧 Temporary loss of water

Once service is restored, if your water is discolored or cloudy, run cold taps at the lowest level of your home for 3–5 minutes until it runs clear.

Landlords, please notify your tenants. For everyone’s safety, do not approach the crews while they work.
