Lincoln Health Foundation invites the community to join local dancers, special guests, and supporters for “Lincoln Health Foundation Presents: Dancing for a Cause!” on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Central Academy.

The community fundraising event will bring local stars to the dance floor for an evening of dancing, competition, entertainment, and giving back.

“Dancing for a Cause is meant to be a fun night for our community, but there’s a much bigger purpose behind every dance,” said Danielle Hart, executive director of Lincoln Health Foundation. “Our dancers have stepped up to raise funds for local healthcare, and now we’re inviting Lincoln County to come out, cheer them on, and be part of an evening that gives back.”

Proceeds will support Lincoln Health Foundation’s mission to enhance healthcare in Lincoln County. Funds raised will stay local, helping provide equipment, technology, and programs that enhance patient care throughout HH Lincoln Health.

Community stars, some joined by local studio dance partners, will perform a variety of dance styles and compete for awards:

• Just for Clicks Cloggers
• Karissa Krishnan and Shannon Doherty
• Megan Spurlock
• Nicki Painter
• Peige Morgan

The evening will feature special musical guests Mark and Laura Clark and special guest dancers Lance and Emersyn Stephens. Nonprofit organization Always Endure will provide an on-stage presentation of support for the special guest dancers.

Featured performance breaks throughout the show will showcase dancers from D-Force Dance Company and Backstage Performing Arts. Both studios are also providing choreography for four community star performances. James Jordan Photography is providing event promotional and day-of photography, and Mickey Johnson, board president of Carriage House Players, will serve as a guest judge. Robins & Morton is a Shining Sponsor, alongside many other local businesses and community members supporting the event and its dancers.

Tickets are $10 and are available in advance through the community stars and also at Carter’s Drug Store and Southeast Electric and Plumbing in Fayetteville. Tickets will also be available at the door. Event T-shirts and snacks will be available for purchase during the evening.

Please join us for Lincoln County’s Day of Remembrance as we honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, recognize the heroes who answered the call, and pay tribute to the first responders who continue to serve our community.

The ceremony begins at 10:00 AM at the Fayetteville–Lincoln County Courthouse Bandstand. Please bring your own chair as we come together for this solemn and meaningful observance. 🇺🇸

Ringo Cemetery stands a little differently today—not only because of the beautiful new sign and crosses marking previously unmarked graves, but because a community came together to say: these lives mattered, and they will be remembered.

The Leadership Lincoln Class of 2026 poured tremendous care, respect, and hard work into restoring dignity to this historic resting place. Today’s ceremony was a meaningful tribute to their efforts and to every individual laid to rest there.

Thank you to the speakers, attendees, volunteers, and everyone who helped bring this important project to life.

September 25 (School Day) & 26 (Open to the Public!

In August 1813, a Red Stick faction of the Creek Indians (Muscogee) attacked Fort Mims in south Alabama. The Fort Mims Massacre shocked Tennesseans. The General Assembly declared war on the Creeks and called for militia and volunteers to serve under General Andrew Jackson.

Nearly 3,000 troops assembled just south of Fayetteville, Tennessee at a site dubbed Camp Blount, to honor Governor Willie Blount. On October 12, 1813, with Jackson in command, the army headed south to meet the Red Sticks.

After early victories, Jackson’s campaigned stalled. By late March, reinforcements arrived and he once again moved against the Red Sticks. On March 27, 1814, Jackson ordered an attack on their fortified positions at a place known as Horseshoe Bend. The resulting victory essentially ended the Creek War.

Later in 1814, local militia again mustered at Camp Blount, this time to defend New Orleans. On January 8, 1815, American forces soundly defeated the British in the last major battle of the War of 1812.

Andrew Jackson’s victories at Horseshoe Bend and New Orleans propelled him to the presidency. The role of Tennessee volunteers in these campaigns gave birth to the state’s nickname, “The Volunteer State.” These stories are told at Historic Camp Blount.
