Democrats nominated Parker Stohlton of Bella Vista on Monday to run in the Nov. 3 special election to fill the remainder of former state Rep. Austin McCollum's term.

Today's canvassing fit felt very Hallie Shoffner coded.

Fun things from this evening’s sesh:

1) I made friends with TWO dogs named Finley
2) One man took my number so his wife could invite me to the next neighborhood Bunco game.
3) I met a social worker who has worked with local women to help them heal and reintegrate into our communities after incarceration. She is passionate about getting women the services they need and appalled at Washington County's decision to close our women's minimal security correctional facility that previously provided services like drug court, job placement, and counseling.
4) I met a man who reminisced about the days when lake Wedington was a central part of his life. He even met his wife there when they were in high school!
5) The same neighbor from above was a conservative who is "appalled by the state of our government" and would vote for a dem president if a 'good one' ran. I assured him that no matter what happened at the top, our strong neighborhoods and communities would survive anything.
6) Lastly, I really adore the woman who called me Honey and then told me she would love to talk but the Friday evening wine was hitting so she wasn't in the best headspace to talk policy after she had started winding down for the evening on her back patio. Happy Friday, ma'am.

Doorknocking in our competitive districts is THE BEST WAY to channel the frustration and anger know we’re all feeling at our political system.

It’s so helpful to the campaigns and is a productive way to spend your time and energy.

Get plugged in, there are plenty of competitive races in Benton Co and Washington Co to choose from.
