Cross Creek Linear Park

Cross Creek Linear Park Walk, Run, Ride – And Relive History In 1765, a group of settlers had already discovered the
bounty of Fayetteville’s Cross Creek.

They established
the Cross Creek settlement along this rich water source
in the area that is now the City’s downtown. Later, the
settlements of Cross Creek and Campbellton (along the
Cape Fear River) merged to become Fayetteville. Today, thanks to the Cross Creek Linear Park Corp. and generous community donations, residents and visitors can once again take full advantage of the sparkling beauty of

Cross Creek, while they learn more about the story this area has to tell. Connecting history and points of interest along the way, Linear Park is a pathway that winds along Cross Creek – from Ray Avenue to the Cape Fear River. Crisscrossing the creek, the three mile long trail features
bridges, overlooks and scenic views. This magnificent
“greenway” preserves and highlights the natural beauty
of the area that long ago attracted Fayetteville’s founding
populace with its fertile land and lush resources. Beautifully finished – with paved, wooden plank and
gravel sections – Linear Park is the perfect place for a run, walk, leisurely stroll or bike ride. And no matter what your “pace,” you’ll also have the opportunity to travel through history. The Park runs by some of the most historic sites in Fayetteville. Picturesque and tranquil areas around the pathway provide the ideal spot for an outing, family picnic or just some fresh-air relaxation.
