Storms: 1
Our bridges: 0

Just another day at Wilson Springs 😅
After heavy rain, moving bridges back into place is… a regular occurrence around here.

If you’ve ever walked these trails, you’ve crossed something our team has had to fix, rebuild, or haul back into place.

That’s exactly what our Season of Stewardship supports.
More durable infrastructure. Less “bridge rescue missions.”

Wilson Springs gates are open and we’re planning to reopen tomorrow 🌿

The trails are still a bit wet, but should dry out quickly—thank you for giving the land time to recover and for treading lightly as things firm up.

The storms did a number on Wilson Springs 🌧️

Between flooding and a bridge that decided to relocate, we’re hitting pause for a few days to make repairs and give the trails time to dry.

We’ll keep you posted on reopening—thanks for giving the land a little time to recover!

🌱 Introducing NWALT’s Season of Stewardship 🌱

This spring, we’re launching a three-month campaign to protect the forests, farms, rivers, and wildlife habitat that make Northwest Arkansas home.

As our region continues to grow, the places that ground us—our hollers, wetlands, woodlands, and open spaces—need champions. This is your invitation to be part of something bigger.

🎯 Our goal: Raise $40,000 by June 30 to protect and steward land across NWA

And it all kicks off on April 9 for NWA Gives 💚

We’re setting a $5,000 goal in 24 hours, and thanks to our board of directors, the first $2,000 in donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar—doubling your impact.

🎬 Join us that evening for a special film screening at 6:00 PM at the historic Ozark Mountain Smokehouse in Fayetteville
Featuring:

Wilson Springs Preserve is back open 💚

As you head out to explore, we want to share an important reminder:
🚫 No bikes
🚫 No dogs

Wilson Springs is a protected tallgrass prairie and wetland ecosystem.

It is home to hundreds of plant and animal species, including many that are rare or sensitive to disturbance.

Bikes can damage fragile soils and trail edges, and even the most well-behaved dogs can disrupt wildlife and ground-nesting species.

These guidelines help us protect this landscape so it can thrive for generations to come, so everyone can continue to enjoy its beauty.

Thanks for helping us care for this special place 🌾

🎬 An Evening of Film, Conservation, and Community

Join Northwest Arkansas Land Trust for a special evening exploring the landscapes and stories that make the Ozarks so remarkable.

We’ll premiere a new short film created with SUDO Studios, offering an inside look at NWALT’s work protecting land and water across Northwest Arkansas. The film follows our team as we partner with landowners, community members, and the landscapes we steward—sharing a deeper look at who we are, why this work matters, and how conservation happens on the ground.

The evening will also feature a screening of Witch Hazel Advent: The Story of an Ozark Poet, a short documentary by filmmaker Sarah Moore that tells the story of Arkansas poet and peace activist John Rule, who lived off-the-grid in the Ozark Mountains.

In 2013, John donated his 140-acre property on Frog Bayou to Northwest Arkansas Land Trust for permanent conservation—ensuring the land he loved will remain protected for generations to come.

NWALT staff will also share a brief presentation about our current conservation work in the Illinois River Watershed and how land protection supports water quality, wildlife habitat, and the natural heritage of our region.

🍿 Popcorn and drinks provided

Whether you're new to the Land Trust or already part of our community, this is a great opportunity to learn more about conservation in Northwest Arkansas and connect with others who care about protecting the places we all love.
