Whitewater High School won a defensive battle over McIntosh High School, 14-0, on Aug. 28.
The game was scoreless into the fourth quarter when Chase Davenport intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown. Malcolm Marks added a 3-yard touchdown late for the final score.
The Wildcats are 2-0 and host Callaway this week. The Chiefs are 1-1 and on bye for two weeks.
In other action, Sandy Creek shut out ranked Class 7A Douglas County, 21-0. Starr’s Mill (23-21 to Northside) and Fayette County (29-22 to Pike County) both suffered close losses.

Dominique Weaver of the Tigers scored the game’s first run on a solo home run in the 2nd inning.
