FAYETTEVILLE HIRES POLICE CHIEF WITH 45 MISCONDUCT ALLEGATIONS

Fayetteville’s newest Asst. Police Chief has a shady past riddled with allegations of excessive force and misconduct. Meanwhile, the city continues to invest in AI surveillance while ignoring community demands for a data center moratorium and police oversight.

The only solutions for “public safety” we’re offered in this system are bully cops and AI surveillance. If the people had power, we could put our resources towards meeting our needs, not over-policing and surveillance. We know that a safe Fayetteville is one where our kids have quality education and enrichment, our people are housed, and everyone has the right to a living wage job!

You’ve probably seen this pesky data center ad while streaming your favorite content. Don’t be fooled by this multi-million dollar propaganda campaign!

We’ve debunked the biggest myths from this ad:

1) that data centers will create more good jobs
2) data centers are innovative infrastructure
3) data centers will pay for their own power

The truth is that they run on skeleton crews, suppress better ideas for the sake of maximizing profit, and get the good deals from your utility on energy costs that they don’t pay back, leaving the rest to us on our electric bill.

If you don’t want to bear the consequences of bailouts for big tech, sign the petition and share this reel with friends and family to halt new data center development in North Carolina!

FAYETTEVILLE CITY COUNCIL ATTEMPTS TO SILENCE THE PEOPLE!

On August 10, the Fayetteville community rallied and packed the city council meeting to express their opposition to a proposed ordinance that would open the door for data center development in Fayetteville with hardly any protections. During the meeting, the mayor and council members repeatedly tried to silence the people, kicking citizens out of the meeting and even threatening arrests. They voted against the moratorium that the community has been demanding for months, and decided to move forward with further edits to the ordinance, continuing a pattern of ignoring the people’s concerns and pushing dangerous legislation.

We must build a movement to fight against data centers and the entire corrupt, undemocratic system that puts big tech profits over our people!

RALLY TODAY: 30+ Small Businesses and Organizations endorse no data centers in Fayetteville‼️

Today we are hosting a rally and packing the city council to demand:

1️⃣ A NO Vote on the proposed changes to the city’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO), which would leave Fayetteville open to data center development with barely any protections.

2️⃣ Pass a minimum 1-year moratorium on data center development in the entirety of the city’s jurisdiction.

3️⃣ Develop sufficient regulations to protect the people of Fayetteville and our resources. Make developers and tech corporations pay their fair share!

Join us this evening to assert that we want a Fayetteville that works for the people, not big tech!

Fayetteville City Council will have a public hearing on our city’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) this Monday. The Council will be considering text amendments that would let data centers be developed in Fayetteville “by right” in industrial zones. Certain NC law stipulations would make it extremely difficult for our city to change our mind on data center moratoriums after the fact.

We are pressing the importance of mobilization and collective pressure on our Council. We were able to move them back in June—and we can do it again! We still say NO to a pro-data center ordinance!

Join us at the rally to say NO TO THE UDO! NO TO DATA CENTERS IN FAYETTEVILLE! MORATORIUM NOW!

Join us this Saturday to rally, pack city council, and demand: NO DATA CENTERS IN FAYETTEVILLE✊🏽
