Chemours is getting away with poisoning NC water!

The EPA has announced a settlement with chemical industry corporation Chemours for poisoning water systems in North Carolina, West Virginia, and New Jersey with toxic “forever chemicals” known as PFAS.” Though Trump’s EPA is advertising this as a big win, it really amounts to barely a slap on the wrist for a multi-billion dollar corporation that has caused irreversible damage to the environment and public health. It also provides no compensation and no real obligation for Chemours to clean up our water or even stop releasing more toxic chemicals.

This is all the more reason Fayetteville, and the rest of North Carolina, don’t need hyperscale data centers! Our water is already poisoned, and we can’t afford more environmental destruction at the hands of big corporations! We need a movement to stop data centers and protect our people and our water!

Join us for an organizing meeting next Tuesday to help build the movement to stop data centers in Fayetteville!

So far, Fayetteville city council has refused to respond to the people’s demands for a pause on data center development. They are instead trying to pass zoning laws that would give big tech corporations free rein to build data centers in our city, with no real regulations or protections for our people! It will take a mass people’s movement to pressure city council to pass a moratorium, so we have to organize to build it!

Let’s come together and fight for a Fayetteville for the People, Not Big Tech!

SAVE THE DATE: Rally on August 10 to say NO DATA CENTERS IN FAYETTEVILLE!!!

On August 10, Fayetteville City Council will hold the public hearing necessary to pass the proposed changes to the city’s zoning laws. These changes will open Fayetteville up to data center development with hardly any protections for our people, our resources, or our pockets. After hundreds rallied and packed City Hall in June, the council was forced to push this hearing back. They must have thought the delay would silence us, but the people of Fayetteville will STILL show up and show out to defend our city from data centers and greedy big tech developers!!

Join us to protest and then pack the City Council meeting to say NO to the proposed changes, and demand a data center ban NOW! SAVE THE DATE AND TELL A FRIEND!

NO CHARGES FILED AGAINST WILMINGTON, NC KILLER COPS: Genesis, the sister of Edilberto Espinoza-Sierra, speaks about the murder of her brother by WPD and New Hanover County Sheriff’s Dept Officers, and her family’s continued calls for justice.

On Wednesday, June 24, the New Hanover County District Attorney announced they will not be filing ANY charges against the officers involved in the murder, despite them firing *62 rounds* at Edilberto’s car and others in a crowded parking garage. The Espinoza-Sierra family remains grieving without any closure, knowing that Beto’s murderers walk free on paid administrative leave.

It will take a mass movement to bring these killer cops to justice, and to end the racist system that continues to protect cops that murder Black and Brown people with impunity.

✊🏽 Liberation Linocuts: Juneteenth Printmaking Party! ❤️💛💚

This Juneteenth, we celebrated and honored the enslaved African Americans who weren’t simply granted their freedom, but freed themselves! As we carved out our linoleum to create beautiful designs, we discussed the need to build a liberated future that only WE can create for ourselves.

🗣️JUSTICE FOR EDILBERTO: CHARGE KILLER COPS ‼️

The Wilmington community protested yesterday to demand justice for Edilberto “Beto” Espinoza-Sierra, a 21-year old Latino man who was murdered by WPD and New Hanover Co. Sheriff Dept. after they wrongly identified him as a suspect in an earlier shooting. On Wednesday, June 24, the New Hanover County District Attorney announced they will not be filing ANY charges against the officers involved in the murder, despite them firing *62 rounds* at Beto’s car and others in a crowded parking garage. 

Edilberto’s tragic death is emblematic of the brutal violence and excessive force that the police—and other “law enforcement” agencies such as ICE—unleash on our communities every day, particularly poor, working class, and Black and brown communities. It will take a mass movement to bring these killer cops to justice, and to end the racist system that continues to protect cops that murder Black and Brown people with impunity.

Today, Wilmington residents are rallying at the site of Beto’s murder to amplify his family’s continued calls for justice for their son.

Volunteer with us to help fight data centers in Fayetteville! Join us for outreach to collect signatures for our petition to Fayetteville City Council demanding a data center moratorium now!

City council is trying to push through zoning law changes that would open Fayetteville up to data center development with hardly any regulations. We need to build the movement calling for a data center moratorium, a temporary ban that would allow time to develop regulations to protect our people and our resources!

Big tech developers are already making moves to build hyperscale AI data centers in Fayetteville, which will surely hoard our water, pollute our air, put public health at risk, and drive up the already high cost of living. We need a moratorium, a pause on data center development, to allow time to establish regulations to protect our community!
