In response to the recent mailer from Judge Sam Fox:

The mailer states: “Judge Sam Fox has spent his career delivering justice—in the Courtroom” and “When you need a judge, you need someone who has seen it all.”

Judge Fox’s career has focused on defending doctors and hospitals in malpractice cases across West Virginia. While that is valuable experience in one area, it is narrow. Fayette County Circuit Court handles a wide range of matters—including criminal, civil, family, abuse and neglect, and child custody cases.

I have practiced throughout southern and central West Virginia, including Pendleton County, handling criminal, civil, domestic, and abuse/neglect cases in circuit and family courts. I have appeared before many different judges in diverse proceedings, giving me broad courtroom experience that directly applies to the full docket of the circuit bench.
Fayette County deserves a judge with broad, practical experience across the types of cases that come before the court every day. That person is me.

The amount of time you have been admitted to practice law does not equal experience. Experience is earned by representing real people when their liberty, family or financial future is on the line. Simply protecting insurance companies for 36 years does not prepare anyone for the vast majority of what circuit judge face.
