The Felda Fire Department is looking for new members to join our Department. Felda residents will have priority. The Department will put any Felda residence through Fire 1 and EMR at no cost to you. We are also accepting already certified Fire 1 and 2, EMT-B. Out of district members will have to put in at least 24 hours in a month. All potential members will have to go through a 6 month probationary period where we teach to pump, drive, and operate all equipment. Once done there is a stipend program where you get paid to be at the station and be available to respond to calls for service.

This evening the Felda Fire Department along with the Hendry County Sheriff's held a award ceremony. Firefighter Grant Steelman and with the help Deputy Cadena. Found a Silver Alert person and these two working together got her home safely to her family. The Silver Alert program is for missing Elderly persons with underlying medical conditions. This lady from the start of the Alert to being found was less than 6 hours.

It has been a few exciting months for the Volunteers, We have a new to use class A pumper donated by Charlotte County Fire & EMS. We have welcomed two new babies into our ranks. Firefighter/Paramedic Porter welcomed in a little girl, Firefighter/EMT Durfey has welcomed a baby boy. Station Captain Russell is deploying tomorrow for another trip to assist with the wild fires in Oregon. Firefighter Steelman is also gearing up to assist outwest. The department also received a gift from someone that wants to remain anonymous. We are proud to serve our community and visitors of Felda and serve throughout the United States.

Not only do we rescue people and help people in distress. We also up rescue baby calfs when they get away from momma.

On behalf of the Felda Fire Department, I would like to congratulate Firefighter/ now Paramedic John Delashmet, and Firefighter/ now Paramedic Ana Olma on completing there 16 month journey of becoming Paramedics. It has been a honor to support and help as a Department these two on completing there training. I know both of these two will serve the public to the best of there abilities and be amazing life savers. Thank you both for allowing myself, Firefighter Paramedic Angelo Larosa and Lieutenant Durfey to share your graduation with you both.

The Felda Fire Department was pleased to be a part of this year's trunk or treat. It's was a great event and saw alot of princesses and even Sonic. The scariest one we saw was one of our own and we had to have him put his mask back on he kept scarying all the kids away. We hope everyone had a great evening stay vigilant in case anymore trick or treaters are on the roadway.

Last night the Felda Fire Department took advantage of a ditch full of water to do some draft training. Trainings like this help us to get newer firefighters the chance to train on pumping and older members to refine there skill. We were greeted by a friendly deer that wanted to learn how to draft. But we told him without the proper safety gear he couldn't join us but he stood to the side and watched us for awhile.

The Felda Fire Department assisted Pionner Fire Department with a lighting strike brush fire.. we may have been getting rain but it has been spotty throughout the county. Please be fire smart if you burn and if you see a fire burning don't be afraid to call it in. Better to have eyes on it even if it's a controlled burn.
