As the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend is underway, we would like to recognize those who served in the Armed Forces that did not return home, as well as those who served and did return home. We encourage everyone to be safe this weekend and to reach out to a veteran and say thank you to them for their past or current service to this country. At 1034 hrs today, NHWVFC was dispatched for a structure fire involving a detached garage. Chief 45 arrived on scene to...

At 1034 hrs today, NHWVFC was dispatched for a structure fire involving a detached garage. Chief 45 arrived on scene to find a 3 car pole barn style building and no flames visible but heavy smoke coming out of the roof lines. With the assistance of North Hopewell Township Police Department and the property owner, Chief 45 was able to hook to and move three trailers that were parked next to the involved garage. Crews started to arrive and handlines were advanced on the structure. Ladder 54 arrived and started to vent the roof. However, the venting created more fire in the attic area of the building which was not easily accessible. Eventually the fire was knocked and a local business responded with a TracHoe and assisted with overhaul and final extinguishment of the active fire. Several vehicles, atvs, tools and machinery were destroyed in the fire. No injuries were sustained. Shout out to Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company, Alliance Fire and Rescue Services, Inc., Eureka Vol. Fire Company, Glen Rock Vol. Fire Company, S.A.F.E.R., Baltimore County #45, Rose Fire Company #1 for their assistance.
