This week students from George Guffey Elementary visited the firehouse. These students were winners of the annual Saline Valley Fire District 3rd grade coloring contest. As a reward of their great coloring skills these students were picked up from school in a firetruck and brought to the firehouse for lunch and a tour of the station. We even let them spray some water while they were here. Congratulations to the winners and from everyone at Saline Valley Fire District we hope all the students have a safe and fun summer break.

Update from US National Weather Service Saint Louis Missouri

A combination of lower relative humidity, gusty south winds, and dry vegetation will produce erratic fire behavior this afternoon between Noon and 6 pm. It is best to leave burning to the professionals.

‼️ Residents may notice haze or the smell of smoke in the area due to prescribed burns being conducted nearby. These controlled burns are planned and monitored, and are a common land management practice. If you see or smell smoke, it may be related to these operations.‼️

However, if you observe anything that appears unsafe, uncontrolled, or out of the ordinary, please do not hesitate to call 911 so it can be checked by our crews.
