Since 2011, Delaware has had a hands-free cell phone law while operating a motor vehicle (Del. Title 21 § 4176C. Electronic communication devices). Also, operators are to give full attention while operating their vehicle (Del. Title 21 § 4176B. Inattentive driving).
With April being distracted driving month, our officers will be conducting extra patrols looking for these violations.
A first time offense for cell phone use while driving is $205. Second or multiple offenses, and the citation nearly doubles. Please put the phones down while driving and give full attention to the road.
We are Safer and Stronger Together!

The more information you have on the dangers of distracted driving, the better decisions you can make. 📵✅

This driving warning will remain until further notice and may be replaced by increased restrictions if road conditions worsen through the night.
