I shared the stage with our current Congressperson tonight at the Todd-Wadena Electric Cooperative Meet the Candidates Forum. We were told a surrogate would be attending from her campaign, but welcomed her to Wadena. Seven state level candidates were on stage as well. They all did well. The conversation was civil and informative. The audience was respectful. Not sure there was any clear "winner" tonight. But I do believe we saw improvement. We saw choices & options.
Competition can be a good thing. It can force us outside our comfort zone & that's where growth happens.

Also happy to announce there will be a live televised debate between Rep. Fischbach & I on Oct. 15th. It will be aired on public television. More details to come.

Well, would you look at THAT 🏆 The 2026 State of the Nation Project report, which examined 31 key measures including life satisfaction, social capital, education, economy, and civil liberties, found that MINNESOTA had the highest average rank across all metrics — placing it first in the country for overall quality of life 🏆

Louisiana came in last.

The report found that New England and the western Midwest rank the highest for well-being, while Southern states consistently rank lowest — with especially low levels of trust in institutions contributing to their lower standing.

Unsurprisingly, those states were all Republican-led.
