Guinness World Records has certified that this ball of paper as the world's largest. The MPCA put this together at the 2014 Minnesota State Fair to show how much recycled paper is thrown away (not recycled) every 30 seconds in Minnesota. Still think it doesn't add up?

The Metrodome is long gone (that's a good thing to most people), and it will live on in another form. More than 80% of the Metrodome will be recycled including the concrete, steel, Teflon room, and even the blue seats. Construction projects create an enormous amount of waste and finding a way to recycle that material is always a challenge. Fortunately, Mortenson Construction has found a way to recycle a large portion of it.

Each day, for the past three months, a series of big trucks have continuously lumbered onto the construction site that once was the home to the Metrodome

Every year, the NFL pushes the "green" envelope at their marquee event: the Super Bowl. This year, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, the NFL composted all their food scraps making it the greenest Super Bowl yet.

Here's a great example of why reusing is often overlooked. The Metrodome demolition contractors estimate the cost of removing seating to be $48 per seat. Share this with anyone who is a strong believer in reusing as these are perfectly good seats that should not end up in a landfill!

Ground is broken, the budget stars have aligned, and the disassembly and demolition will soon commence at the Metrodome to make room for the new Vikings stadium

A fine example of reuse! Duluth Pack, an outdoor gear producer from Duluth, MN, is using the old Metrodome roof that collapsed in 2009 to line the inside of their heavy-duty bags. The old Metrodome roof is made out of Teflon-coated fiberglass and virtually can't be ripped. With an estimated decomposition time of 1,500 years, keeping this out of a landfill is a huge accomplishment.

A Duluth maker of outdoor gear plans to introduce duffel and shell bags made of material from the roof of the Hubert H
